A bit of humor for the day...

"My commute to work this morning was awesome. I left home around 6:45 and arrived at work just after 8:00. Not bad for my long 10 mile commute, I'd say. I was also able to find a parking spot that will get shade the first half of the day, and only a block and a half away. I must be living right. (I need to remind myself to feed that meter before it expires.) I saw a few bikes passing me while I was sitting in traffic on my way. I wonder how long it takes THEM to get to work? Dorks. They must hate riding through traffic and having to pass so many cars. I don't know how they smoke when they're on those things. I'd probably fall over trying to light up. Too bad they can't afford a car like mine. I'd bet that I get at least 15 MPG in this baby and get to smoke in peace.

I can't wait for my drive home today. I get to stop by the gas station and use my rewards card again. With gas prices like they are now, I'm guessing by December I'll have enough points to buy that DVD I've been waiting for. Sweet! I saw a gas station on my way to work this morning that had gas priced at $3.89 per gallon. Suckers! Only 5 miles down the road, and a bit out of the way, I can get it for $3.79! My fill-up will only be $53.00 instead of $55.00. I'm glad I pay attention to those signs and save as much as I do. It's almost like getting smokes for free.

Maybe I'll stop one of those guys on bikes and see if they need a ride home. I feel bad that they don't have cars to drive.

So how was your commute?"

Thanks for the insight. All these years I thought it was rage in their eyes, but it was really pity for us unfortunate ones.

My commute to work this morning was awesome. I left home at 8.15am and arrived at work at 8.30am. Not bad for my 2.5 mile journey. By car it would take 35 - 40 minutes for the same 2.5 mile journey. I had no trouble finding a parking spot. Right next to my desk - and it's free. I'm definitely on to a good thing here. I pass lots of cars all jammed up on the way. I think to myself "Poor things. They must be so frustrated and bored". If I want a smoke no problem I can light up easily. Windproof lighter, but it's not really worth it because I'd be at work before I got half-way through the cigarette! I've got a car too but hardly use it anymore. What with diesel nearly £1 per litre (2.2 pints), it's way too expensive. Not to mention over £400 a year for Road Tax and nearly £300 for insurance. Would cost me over £2000 a year just to use the car. Most of that would be in taxes to the government. Why should I give any more of my hard-earned cash in taxes than I have to?

I don't have to queue for ages at a petrol station and what I've saved in car running costs by using my bike I can buy a brand new DVD player to play my 3 new DVD films on. I can get to the end of the week and STILL have money in my purse - lots of it.

My health has improved. I'm so much fitter using my bike. I can smell the flowers and trees and if it rains, OK I get wet but I can smell the freshness of the rain on the plants. I always arrive at my destination feeling relaxed and uplifted.

I feel so sorry for these poor cagers who can't experience this. I feel sorry for them too that many of them will have serious ill-health. Nasty things like becoming overweight and developing diabetes, heart-attacks, strokes and other things that for want of cycling could be avoided.

Poor cagers. They know not what they do.

How was your commute?

Mine sucked this morning. Something under my car is rattling. Sounds expensive. Oh well. It takes me 40 minutes to drive in and I heard it a lot.

I saw one of those poor saps on a bike this morning as well. Almost felt bad when I practically plowed into him. Jackass. Roads are for us real people not you pedal pushing numbskulls.

Oh dear! Sounds like the timing-belt tensioner's gone. Careful or you could ruin the engine. My bike breaks down I just take it into the kitchen and fix it. Doesn't take long and I don't have to pay £100 per hour for a mechanic - and I can have a cup of coffee while I fix it!

What with all the pollution, global warming and fossil fuel running out, cars will soon be a thing of the past.

You'd be amazed how much hard work they're going to put into continuing to be lazy.

Hee. I wanna play!

God, this city has the worst traffic. I think the planning department just sticks pins in a map at random to decide which road to dig up next. But wow, when the Glenmore Causeway is up to 8 lanes like it should be, that will be sweet!

Maybe then those stupid cyclists will stop passing me and waving all the time. And what is up with them claiming to see freaking wild animals in the middle of Calgary? They're obviously delusional from being out in the sun without A/C. Everyone knows there's no animals here.

I think it's the exhaust pipe. It's loose and I'm taking it in soon.
Gawd I hate that car. It's real old, dirty, runs like crap, drinks gas ... but it's paid for.

Bikers in my town are suicidal maniacs. Every time I drive past one (or more often they blast past me) I'm amazed with how many things they do wrong. For example, a lot of them are riding on tires that are totally worn - no thread left on the whatsoever! Zilch, nada! They will disintegrate at any moment. I know those buggers are poor since they can't afford a car, but some of them can't even afford a decent rugged mountain bike like the one I got from Walmart. Some of them ride dingy things that don't have any suspension (forget about full suspension, not even in the front!), razorblade-thin tires and really weird curved bars. Must be relics from the 70's. And what cheesy names too - Trek Madone, my a$$! What do bikes got to do with The Madonna? What are they, Catholics or something? What's next? Raleigh Jesus Christ?

- from i-have-telecommuted-since-1997.com:

"Bad morning. Rolled out of bed bright and ugly, but the 25-foot commute was hell on wheels, as I forgot to set the coffeemaker the night before. Restored the notebook from suspend mode (saving electricity) and logged into work a few minutes early. But I did leave the Web cam off as I hadn't shaved yet. I really wonder what all the poor suckers commuting by car and riding bikes miles upon miles to work do during winter time. Me? I snuggle up in my Dr. Denton's and work by wire via the 'net. After all it is the 21st Century!"

The alarm clock woke me up this morning. It was only 7am and I don't have to be at work until 8. Too early, so I took a 10 minute snooze. I hate mornings. Finaly got up, brushed, changed undies, work clothes and out the door in 5 minutes. A new record. Work is only 10 miles away so I'll have time to shave in lavatory. So, I'm driving along and I noticed that all these morons around me are only doing 50mph. Damnit, I'll be late. WTF is going on. There are no accidents. Drive faster you fools. Jumped on the carpool lane and cut the slow bozos to get to my exit. Ah! There was the problem. Everybody is rubber necking that guy who needs a tow. BASTARD. Man, I'm so pissed off at all these idiots driving around me. Either too slow or too fast. Why doesn't anyone drive at my speed? Oh well. If I only had a gun and a license to kill idiot drivers life would be good.

So I pulled up next to this dude in slammed Accord - for real - he slammed an Accord. Dumbsheet. So anyway I pulled up nex to him at the light. He REVS it! I could not believe it! He's in a slammed accord and he's REVVING me.

Well needless to say - it was on. So I gave him the look and dailed up about a 40 hp hit on the NOX. The light changed and I SMOKED HIS A$$!
