It seems whenever I go on the MUPs out here, these creatures make it so you have to switch to cross-country mode about every mile or two and do a bit of the old offroading to proceed on your journey.
That and morons who pour through the corners like they're running a world-rally-championship tarmac stage. Nothing like getting run over by a 20 MPH maniac on your way to work.
Out here, the roads are safer.

Plus there is a 15 MPH legal limit on the paths around here. Just try and prove you were not already violating the law when you hit someone. Operating a vehicle (well at least all the rights and obligations of one) on an MUP puts you at the bottom of the legal feeding chain.

Many Unpredictable Pedestrians
(I just made that up. Congratulate me.)
I don't have any of the numerous problems seen on larger urban MUPs, thankfully. No speed limits here. Depending on the wind, I cruise 15-20MPH on my MTB. Very low density of users, so I can do that.

On the east/west straightaway on Indian Creek Streamway Trail, I will bomb through the section at upwards of 30 MPH sometimes. The catch is that I can see everything ahead for almost a mile. If it's empty, I'll hammer it. I just can't stand the maniacs that take blind curves at the mechanical limit of their bike. Just because you can weave through a specific chicane at 18 MPH without losing traction doesn't mean it's safe to take the whole width of the trail without being able to see far enough ahead to stop.
My friend Tim and I darn near got creamed by several lamers pulling that crap.
Oh yeah, and if you're a cyclist stuck behind pedestrians, and there is oncoming traffic, wait for the oncoming traffic to pass before moving to the left to overtake the slow peds. Tim and I also got run off the trail by some swine who thought it was perfectly acceptable to pull right out into our way to get around a jogger.

Count me in on the stroller-hating, too. I can't figure out why a 20-pound child requires a stroller the size of a Honda Civic. I spent my childhood in a Snugli on Dad's back, a child-carrier on the back of Mom's bike, or even on my own feet, and I survived somehow!
