And they don't lay out 15 foot trip wires in my neighborhood road at 6am and give me a dirty look when they have to reel it in.

Boy some of you guys just take this WAY to seriosly...I mean come on isnt about getting out having a bit of fun? Every one has there own way of riding. I for one won't be happy with myself till i can make the 16 mile ride home in an hour. Others might want to make it in 2 hours and feel unfullfilled if they didn't get to stop and smell every flower on the way. To each his own.
As for the signal they gave i would assume it ment something like move your ass left more on the way.

So....after all this ... Is it an actual signal to the OP or the other three riders yet to pass? "watch your ass, passing on the left?"
I simply have no issues with roadies whatsoever. They really hate being passed on the road by a SS MTB with two inch knobbies though, THAT I can tell you. Most of der roadies avoid the core streets in lieu of the bike paths so I don't see them alot. To each his own.

I don't know if there was a consensus on what it meant. I'd guess it was a signal to the rest of the group behind the OP since the OP wasn't likely to and didn't in fact know the meaning of the signal.
I don't get the roadie hate either.
Interesting that this thread makes a comeback about the same time that another thread starts regarding a blogger who "hates" cyclists and group riders in particular.
Coincidence? I think not

Most are defending the group riders in that thread instead of making fun of them.
