best commute ever!
I wish I had my camera today. This was my first good long ride on the new frame I built up as well. Most of the ride was uneventful in the good way. Then, as I'm riding up one road, I see a car turn on from a side street in front of me followed by a police officer fully lit up. The guy's not slowing down, three more officers fly by me. Wow, a police chase! I didn't see much of it, just cops everywhere. Then, as I get to the light, I'm behind a sort of utility truck. Well, I got in the draft since he wasn't going fast. So, for the next mile and a half I'm cruising at about 30 mph with normal effort. I stayed far enough back that if he suddenly braked, I would have no problems. When we got to a light, I made sure he saw me and gave him the thumbs up.

Nah, just saw the car swerve around a bunch of others while the cops followed. They turned at the light, so I didn't see any more, but there were cops everywhere. The guy probably had drugs on him. I'll post if anything shows up in the news.

A couple weeks ago on my ride home I saw a cop had about 4 cars pulled over for using the bike lane to pass traffic on the road. I gave him a nod and a smile as I rode past.
It was good to see some justice for a change. Every once in a while one of those dickheads will drive up behind me and honk at me because I won't get out of their way. I just ignore them.

Sounds pretty exciting Falkon. One of the first things I noticed when I started commuting recently is how much more connected I feel with the environment, the city and people in general. I've seen street art I would never have seen in a car (wouldn't drive on that route), helped people with directions, was first on the scene to an older lady who had fallen down the steps on her front porch, saw this really cool gigantic birds nest (don't know if it is an eagle or a hawk but the nest is like 4 or 5 feet in diameter)...it goes on and on. Even the sight of downtown shining in the morning sun as I come up over the bridge looks so much more real on my bike. It is something that I just never experienced in a car. And as your situation illustrates, you never know what you are going to see each day.
I have to say I love your signiture. I'm handing in my last Calculus III assignment tomorrow. Whoo hoo!
