My LBS has called me back, they cannot get the 23T cog until April, maybe, Shimano is out of stock. I ordered the 22T cog, but I'm wondering if there is another choice besides Shimano, does anyone know of a different company or even a different Shimano part that would fit the Alfine 8 speed hub, and maybe have a 24T ?

Thanks!

Sram cogs (not iMotion) would also work, and they make a 24t: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/sram-sprocke...nal-gear-hubs/

If your shift linkage is off at all there will be clutch slippage in the higher range. Some have talked about preferring the trigger shifter, but I actually wore one out. I like the twist grip, it has about 4 moving parts compared to about 30 on the trigger.

+1 on the twist grip. I prefer the mechanical simplicity and overall reliability compared to the rapidfire shifters. On my drop bars I have a J-Tek, which I love. Great shifter.

I've ridden Nexus/Alfine exclusively for about 5 years now and am sold on IGH's in general. I have no desire to go back to a conventional derailleur drivetrain, particularly for commuting.

You're referring to the new Alfine 11, perhaps?
The 8 speed variant has been around for quite some time.

No. That post was in 2007 and I was referring to the Alfine (period). Which was been around (i.e. generally available, not just on new bikes or smuggled in) since early 2008. Quite some time, now!
