$19. The draft I had printed to check paper and color quality (which were both grand) arrived in about a week - maybe sooner. I was pleased with the turnaround and it was beautifully packed. The printer ships to Europe and the UK and a host of other countries worldwide.

Thanks Rick - I just ordered two of them; 1 for myself, one for my LBS.

Will I be able to get my bookstore to order this, or will I need to order it through the website you gave? I noticed it's not listed on amazon (or I couldn't find it at least)

d2create 06-22-08 03:47 PM

Why so soon on the book? There will be a lot more strips, right? I hope!

I'd rather wait and get a book with the first YEAR's strips.
Any plans for something like that? Maybe a limited edition signed by the artist??? :)

Rick Smith 06-22-08 04:51 PM

This is a print-on-demand book, available only online. There's no ISBN, which is what retailers like Amazon require for them to offer it for sale.

Because I wanted to offer it in full color, I kept the page count to half a year's worth of strips to keep the cost down.

The folks I asked suggested a collection every six months - for the above reasons and because some people prefer to read comics on pulp instead of between pixels :)

We'll see how it goes.

d2create 06-22-08 06:04 PM

Wow, I didn't even realize 6 months has gone by!
Time flies when you're reading something fun.

Rick Smith 06-22-08 06:14 PM

Well, almost six months... I started late in January. :)

Also: Joe Tait put together a page for the Yehuda Moon figure he created. He's put different panels from the strip behind the figure... take a look:

I just created a starter Yehuda Moon entry in Wikipedia. :thumb:

Sadly, some wikifascist deleted it as 'blatant advertising'.

Strangely enough, I was reading an article about this sort of issue just yesterday...

That's stupid. I bet you can find Snoopy or Calvin & Hobbes in Wikipedia. Why is this case any different?

HF2300 06-24-08 03:29 PM

Take a look at the article in this link - particularly, the last three paragraphs (note - the article continues over two pages). I'd say this is what you've suffered from, given the speed it was deleted.

Because it was likely written in a style that made the mods think it was written by omeone involved in the strip.

If you want the article on wikipedia to stick then you need to write it in a very unbiased and unexcited tone. You need to avoid providing links to the website within the article, and you definitely shouldn't talk about the book yet.

I'd write it, but I'm the worlds worst writer. But if you want to send me a suggested article I'll happily proof it and tell you if the tone is right.

Wikipedia does have a rule that you're never supposed to write articles on something you're involved in. So, sorry Rick, but you shouldn't write an article about Yehuda on wikipedia. If Yehuda is really interesting, according to wikipedia theory, some random set of individuals will describe it better than Rick could. If you sound like you're Rick when you write the article it'll definitely get deleted.

Like benecal? Rick did not write it.

Um, the name is becnal. And I would say 99%, if not 100% of the entries in Wikipedia were written by people who did not invent or create the topic itself. Do you think Charles Schultz added the Snoopy entry in Wikipedia?

TeleJohn 06-25-08 08:18 AM

Sorry on the mis-spell.

crhilton seemed to think that Rick created the entry when it was actually you.

Little Darwin 06-25-08 08:36 AM

Just thought I would let everyone know... In the General Cycling section someone posted a pic of a guy (in Santa Cruz if I remember right) that is a Yehuda look alike. :)

Rick Smith 06-30-08 07:36 PM

I don't know how interesting this is, but here's a 2 minute clip of me inking the strip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejLbaLQ54pg.

No, I proposed the author may have written in a tone that seemed as if only the subject could be so biased. What I mean is that the author may have been so psyched about the strip that he made it very apparent in his writing.

No one wants to read an encyclopedia which is super stoked about everything.

RT 06-30-08 09:05 PM

Looking very forward to what has been foreshadowed as a new character?

Cool. :thumb:

We need to get you a new fan. ;)

JeffCF 07-01-08 07:32 PM

Just got my Yehuda Moon book today! Very, very nice. I think this is the first print-on-demand book I've bought. Well done, Mr Smith!

Jonahhobbes 07-28-08 03:02 PM

I like this "Grail" character even if we never get to see him :)

Will get round to getting the book, bit stretched for cash at the mo

Wife wants a t-shirt with a pic of Yehuda's kitty from a few days ago, women eh? I want one too

squirtdad 07-28-08 06:36 PM

The strip is brilliant. I don't agree with all.points brought up...ie bicycle helmets on kids....but that is part of it's brilliance, it brings all the points up.

I am not sure if I am happy or not that this will probably not go mainstream due to the almost specialized knowledge needed to really apprieciate it....it's kind of fun to have a secret jewel, but on the other hand I wish Rick success.

Doesn't matter. These online comics do better if they don't go mainstream. Ever heard of Penny-arcade? You virtually have to be a gamer to get it: In fact, the fewer video games I played the less I got it and so the less I read it. But it's wildly successful and powerful within its genre.

It'll never be in a newspaper, but that's what will keep it from sucking.

eAspenwood 07-29-08 01:22 PM

Ha! Just read the whole strip from beginning to end. Great stuff.
