Bo Staff

Does anyone know how I can transport my Bow staff on my bike?

It is a 6.5' staff and definitely awkward

Bikes: Windsor Fens, Giant Seek 0 (2014, Alfine 8 + discs)

Generally if I'm transporting something long like that I just zip-tie it to my top tube and let it stick out a bit in front and back.

Weapons bag, like the ones that Bujin makes. Run the strap across your chest. The bo will angle down to one side and up to the other, so give everyone and everything plenty of room.

Bikes: Wife Trek 7100, GT lola, specialzed Hotrock, Trek Grommet, dead Trek 5200(KIA rear derailer failed and brok frame), and Trek 720 (Died of neglect when the 5200 became a stable mate)

If you are not doing any contact with your Bo you can get a 2 peice Bo whouch could be bunjeed to your rack or backpack.

Your Sensei or Shihan might allow you to keep your Bo at the Dojo.

Ive carried long planks of wood strapped to my top tube and resting on the rear rack. You may need to pack some spacer so it clears to one side of the headset. If it sticks out a long way behind, tie some red rag for visibility.

Bikes: Roadbike, commuterbike and wife's "Bike with a bell and a basket" 3 speed.

+1 for strapping it to your top tube and rack.

I carry a large beach umbrella the same way. A little foam or inner-tube wrap can prevent friction damage to the paint.

Bikes: Giant Excursion, Raleigh Sports, Raleigh R.S.W. Compact, Motobecane? and about 20 more! OMG

I would consider strapping it ACROSS the rack...get more room from passing cars that way

I have carried many long things 8'+ by strapping it to the top/head tube and the rack.

But no really what are you doing with a Bo Staff on your back? I have considered rolling out with a katana before. Would have to buy a real one though not home shopping network crap.

Why on earth would you want to buy a katana? Unless you're a student of iaido (in which case you'd probably already own a iai-to), it would most likely be nothing but a pose-piece. Bad enough to hang it up in the rec room, but to "roll out" carrying a weapon that you don't know how to use? wtf.

I've held a badger before, but a wolverine? now you're just being silly.

I thought this was going to be a D&D thread.

+1 on the D&D thread.

Also, I have a buddy who does martial arts, loves working the bo staff, and needs to lose weight. Once he saw this thread suddenly the idea of cycling became more enticing to him. (He's into challenging himself....)
