I get up at 5, prepare my lunch and whatever, feed and put out the dog, eat breakfast and I'm out the door between 6:15 and 6:30. Get to work around 6:45 or 7 :)

jdcii 05-06-08 05:57 AM

I'm out the door by 4:20am.

sprockets 05-06-08 05:59 AM

Up at 5:00, shower, make lunch for the day, walk the dogs, eat some breakfast and then just before 6:00 am, ride to the train station (just over 11.5 km). Take the train for an hour, usually watch some TV on my laptop or read a paper. Hop off the train and cycle to the office (just under 5 km). I arrive at work at about 8:00 am if I do this. That's a two hour, one way commute, but I get to sit and relax for an hour of it.

Amber_ 05-06-08 06:01 AM

I get up at 6, leave the house at 7, get to work at 7:45.

lil brown bat 05-06-08 06:08 AM

Alarm goes off at 6...snooze for a bit more. Get up, shower, dress (bike clothes laid out the night before, everything I need at work packed in the bag). Get on bicycle. Ride. Stop on the way to get a bagel. Get to work. Park bike in cube. Change into work clothes. Eat bagel, start work.

jpdesjar 05-06-08 06:36 AM

Alarm goes off at 6 stay in bed til 615 get up prepare lunch pack bag drink tea. Leave the house by 7 and arrive at work by 730 or so.
Shower at work.
Eat breakfast at work and get coffee, stretch a bit while checking emails and looking at bikes on fixedgeargallery.
Daydream about the bike ride home but not too much so as not to distract me from my work.

**I want to design a headbadge sticker for my steamroller, if I draw it up can I pay someone to make it for me or has anyone done this for their bike? I have this cool idea to draw a little human powered steamroller for the front, I want to do it in white lines so it stands out well against the brown frame.**

tarwheel 05-06-08 06:42 AM

5:30 am - alarm goes off
5:30-5:40 -- get up
5:45-6:05 -- eat breakfast, read the paper, watch weather on TV
6:05-6:25 -- brush teeth, get dressed, pack seat bag on bike
6:30 -- leave for work
7:15 -- get work, boot up computer
7:15-7:30 -- take shower, get dressed

I could eat breakfast at work if time was an issue, but then I would have to carry breakfast with me on my bike, and my seat bag is already pretty full with clothes, lunch, cell phone, wallet, etc.

ItsJustMe 05-06-08 06:50 AM

I PREFER to get up at 5AM, but for the last couple of months it's been 6, leaving by 6:15 to get to work at around 7 (11 mile trip). I never eat or drink anything until I get to work. I shower at work.

I just need to be at work for somewhere around 8 hours, though sometimes I shift an hour or two of that into the evening by working from home a bit.

stevage 05-06-08 07:02 AM

Out of bed 10ish, leave the house 11:30ish, rock up to work 12:30ish.

My working conditions are, um, generous.

Should I think about an earlier start to my day? I think the traffic would be much easier to deal with and I could get a headstart on the day, I like the idea of leaving work at 3 or 330. Feels weird to leave work when everyone else does, I want to be more stealthy about when I arrive and when I leave.

I bet a 6am commute would be really fun.
Cheers~

roadiejorge 05-06-08 07:18 AM

6:00am - Wake up and shower
6:15am - Pack clothes
6:30am - Make breakfast for my wife and daughter
7:00am - Stretch and watch the news
7:20am - Get in my biking gear
7:30am - Out of the door
8:20am - At work and fully energized for the day

RayB 05-06-08 07:31 AM

Get up at 5:50 and out the door at 6:20. Usually arrive at work by about 8 which gives me an hour to get cleaned up as we start at 9. 17 mile commute but I get slowed down big time by the amount of lights. Its all city commuting.

WOW I am really impressed at how early most of you have to get up to ride to work. I am up at 7:15 out the door by 8:00 at work by 8:45 and start at 9:00. I eat breakfast at work usually around 10 ish.

I have found that the commute is more pleasant leaving a bit earlier, there are less cars on the road and I like to get out of work a bit earlier too.
The stealthier I can be the better.

starla 05-06-08 08:00 AM

Get up at 6:15, shower, leave the house by 6:45. Commute is between 20-30 minutes, so I'm usually at work by 7:10. Lock myself in the upstairs bathroom and do hair, makeup, dress, etc. Usually ready by 7:45 for an 8:00 start, which gives me plenty of time to get my coffee and set my damp cycling clothes out to dry.

DataJunkie 05-06-08 08:01 AM

I am an early bird. Up at 4 am and out the door by 5 am. I love early mornings. Much more relaxing than the commute home in the afternoon.

I agree and have done the early commute a few times. I am just not a morning person so it seems much more painful. I don't know why because it is really only about an 1-1.5 hour difference.

LanceW 05-06-08 08:41 AM

I am up at 6:00 and out the door between 6:30-6:45. Then I ride 7.5miles to the gym. Work out for 1.5 hours and then walk one block to work. I tend to get to work around 9:00am

Routine is everything to me.

That hour difference matters most when you want to rest more. Spring is a much easier season for rising early due to the sun and the birds. I like leaving the house only to see both of my cats sleeping on the couch peacfully and they will be there for the whole day. So lazy those felines.

thdave 05-06-08 08:55 AM

Awake at 6:45, shower, dress, wake kids, watch and read news, eat oatmeal or cereal, wake kids again, walk dog (unless wife isn't working), holler at kids to hurry up, and then leave at 7:45, same as kids. I bike over 6 miles to work, they drive my car 1.5 miles to school. :o:o:(

daredevil 05-06-08 08:58 AM

4:30 am. At that time of day, where I live, the highway is my bike path. :)

The next question should be what time do we have to be in bed by in order to get up when we do.
