Bad day and Good day

Bad day and Good day
Coming home after my night shift, I was thinking how lucky I am having the bike trail/MUP on the last part of my commute home, as its cool, looks pretty and glass free, (its certainly no "Baltimore"
), Until I got near the end that is, the last section every half mile of so was covered by broken beer bottles
. Some kids obviously out on Friday night deliberately dropping empty beer bottles in the middle of the bike trail I was really p*ssed off.
So I thought I'll come back tomorrow and maybe clean it up as I was really tired today, (posting on this forum through the night at work does that
), and its really windy and cold today as well. I'd also stopped off and bought stuff and had a nice breakfast lined up for the wife as its the weekend.
Then I thought of the other cyclists that may use this trail today, the people walking their dogs, kids running around, even little Bike Trail Cat - his little paws could get injured

So I went back, with a few heavy duty plastic bags, a dustpan and brush and spent an hour and a half shoveling up glass.
Feel really pleased that I did it

Oh man, I know how you feel.
My battle is with graffiti. I have tons of cheap brushes and various masonry paint. Our bridges and bike paths get tagged constantly, and the next day I paint over it.
I have a "war" going with a couple graffiti artists. I paint over it and they tag it. Since I went out one day and painted the entire bike path bridge, my paint matches perfectly, so when I have to cover graffiti there isn't that ugly miscolored rectangle you usually see.
But they come back.
I know it's school-aged kids because it never happens on school nights, only in the summer and on Friday's and Saturdays. Also, there's a kid who drives a golf cart (we are in a golf cart community) that has stickers all over his golf cart that often are the same as the graffiti, so I think I know who it might be.
The funny part is that these guys I'm in the graffiti war with think they are actually in some kind of contest they can win.
There's only one possible loser in this contest as I'll keep painting over their work, and they'll keep tagging.
The difference is that only one of us is going to get prosecuted as a result of his actions when he gets caught.
I can't wait to catch them. In our town they'll get nailed. I was just talking to a cop the other day and they've had a kid locked up in Juvenile Hall for three months for repeated graffiti attacks.

I finally figured out why there is so much glass compared to the UK and thats because they sell pretty much all their beer in bottles where as the UK sells most of its beer, or at least half in cans.
Glass works its way in and I'm checking tires every week and usually cut out about 5 bits.
Hope you win the war Fairmont. Its such as shame graffiti and litter. NZ is such a beautiful place yet the youngsters don't appreciate it.
