IME, the best cure for winter misery is getting outdoors, which seems paradoxical to them as ain't tried it. I'm a part-time ski instructor, so pretty much every winter weekend is spent outdoors. While it can be harsh in the moment, I've observed that I get many fewer illnesses than my co-workers, who mostly tend to hibernate, and my Gray Cloud of Doom is a lot smaller and more transient. I think the more you can get out there, the more endurable your winter will be.
My wife noted that I had quite a few colds last year. Then it occurred to me that I was going to the gym and riding my trainer last winter. Going to revert back to my usual ride outside no matter what mentality. Well.... that is except for any situation I decide is too dangerous. Like 2 feet of snow or freezing rain.

You people are nuts. I'll take the warm summer weather any day over the cooler temps of the fall. The Fall also means that old man winter is around the corner. Late spring and summer are by far the best times to ride

I for one love summer. My issue is that I detest the cooler weather. While I ride all year long it is my desire to change that so I do not find sub freezing weather completely miserable. One should enjoy riding during each season. That and riding in the snow is a blast.

Fall..... so lovely weather, at least at the beginning! The downpoint is the sun going away pretty fast: it's dark around 8:10 pm. Today it was 12 deg C at 7:15, so a little longsleeve under the jersey was okay, little hot under the sun, little cold in the shade. Colors are -slooowly- starting to appear, fog will then come for morning rugby practices and finally, weather will get worse in november. But before that, there is a nice two months ahead of me for cool commuting (if it's not raining too much), then a crappy month and then bike will be stored for most of the winter. Can't wait to pedal on the river shore to rowing/kayaking though! So beautiful!
Well, anyway, let's take it a day at a time and enjoy it!
(did I mention I was born in fall? :-D )

I wouldn't trade living in a place that has all four seasons for anything. Certainly not for a place that gets so darn hot in the summer.
I used to live a few hundred miles farther north. My biggest complaint about where I live now is that it only gets cold enough to be inconvenient, and only snows enough to make the roads bad. Farther north there's a lot more snow and it's colder, so there's a lot more fun.

It should be around 100 here tomorrow, which is far cooler than last August.
