Vegan Commuter Roll Call!

Yo, vegan bike commuters!
Just wondering how many are out there?
My commute is 20.6 miles round trip on my Surly Cross-Check.

Tell us anything related to being a Vegan bike commuter. Food, gear, anything!

Note: THIS THREAD IS FOR VEGAN COMMUTERS. If you're here to debate or mock the lifestyle, please start your own thread. I'm looking for VEGANS, not @#$&wits who want to flame.

Not vegan, but ovo-lacto. Do I get partial credit?

I'm a former vegan and former vegetarian. I started occasionally eating sushi and realized I wasn't anymore, so better stop calling myself that.

My mom is a vegetarian and my favorite thing people say to her is "Do you eat fish or chicken?"

If you eat fish, you are a pescatarian.
Looking for vegans though.
Partial credit awarded.... begrudgingly.

Off the subject, but there is a term for your eating habits...."flexitarian," which is someone who is generally vegetarian but not 100%.

I grew up in Las Vegas, so even though I don't live there anymore, I'll always consider myself a Vegan.

Seriously though, another ovo-lacto here. 23 miles round trip on my LHT.

That's BS cop-out terminology. "I'm a vegetarian, except when I'm not."

That'd be the same as a guy saying "I'm straight, except when I decide to sleep with another guy. But I'm not bi; I'm flexisexual."

I'm going to try flexisobriety. I'll be a sober recovering alcoholic except for Friday nights, because it doesn't count if I just get hammered some of the time, right?

Either you're a vegan, or you're not. There is no considering. Now go start a lacto ovo thread and leave me be,please. I'm not at all interested. Note the @$%*ing title of the thread.

Speaking of sushi, a "Vegan Commuter Roll" sounds... well... like it would need a lot of wasabi.

zorkon:

What are you looking for in this thread? Is it particularly difficult to get, I don't know, appropriately high-calorie portable food for vegans? Or appropriate nutrition? All of the vegans I've ever heard talk about their choice of diet have insisted that there isn't really any issue. (This wasn't bike commuter specific, of course.)

Instead of being an *** and pushing people away, why don't you try to be polite and encourage people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by telling us why it is such a good thing?

But since you apparently don't want me here, I'll unsubscribe now and continue to eat my eggs and cheese, ignorant of the benefits of being a vegan.

Yeah, that's like kind of pregnant.

You either are a vegetarian or you are an omnivore. We are at war. . . pick a side!

I'm looking to discuss vegan bike commuting. With other vegans. Is that so hard to grasp? i don't owe anyone an explanation why. See, it's my thread with my subject.

+1

I would be interested in learning why I should consider being vegan. How hard is it? How do you get you nutrition requirements while commuting.

I am not vegan but I am always willing to listen and learn. Maybe with enough information I may consider the switch to vegetarian or vegan ism, maybe not.

Ok last time. THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO DEBATE OR PROMOTE VEGANISM.
It is a roll call to find other vegans who bike commute.
That's it.
GET IT?

This comment made me LOL. I'm not a vegan but I'm finding this thread entertaining and educational.
