New bike

Just finished building up my commuter bike, was looking at this forum for some brake squeal advice and rand across this thread. Decided to post a photo:

Its a leader cyclocross frame I got on ebay, all painted flat black, 9 spd rear, 48T front, 700c wheels, v-brakes.

Good looking ride capitolm94. What tires are those? I'm diggin the red stripe being the only hint of color on the bike. (check that, I see the red logo on the handlebars).

They are some michelin training tires, it has the wheels/tires from my road bike on it currently. I have yet to get a suitable set of wheels for the long term.

Thanks though, this bike has shaved ~5 minutes off my 15 minute daily commute, its great! The last one I was riding was a tiny trek mountain bike I had from when I was a little kid, not ideal, but not worth stealing either.

Got new bars(2" rise), grips, bar ends, and am looking for a non-suspension front fork. Does me well as a commuter, only 3 miles from College and 4 from work. Unfortunately, they are in opposite directions from the house.

probably a good thing since I am a Clyde at 230 and wanting to lose some more weight.

Thanks Donkey Hodie, I wish I had more info. for you... It is a cheapass "Ocean Pacific" cruiser bike blue and white metalic with ugly yellow stickers. I scored it off of Craig's List for $40. It was brand new, but an off brand, Great candidate for a utilitarian/rat makeover! Added the seat, paint, cranks, bottom bracket, fenders, basket, etc... Cheers,

Very nice. I just might have to do this with my cross bike.

Thanks, it has been great so far. I had a hard time getting the v-brakes setup, but I had no experience with them before this.

Also had alot of difficulty putting in the headset cups. Total cost ~$500, so its hard to argue im saving money with this, but I am happy.

Posted pics in the Road and SS/FG fora but figured I'd add one here too. I still need to put the fenders back on, but this is my fixed Trek 660 after a new powder coat job.

Yes. It's a mini bicycle.

What do you think about my bike?
Nice folder. I got one too, a Dahon Speed 7. Planning on getting a second folder for this year.

My Marin San Rafael ('06, I think) after yesterday's commute home with a grocery store detour (and a dog who wants to know why his dinner is being postponed so I could take pictures of my bicycle).

Topeak rear rack and bag.
Nashbar front rack.
I think that's a Blackburn tail light, but I might be wrong.
Headlight is a Cygo Lite Night Rover if I remember correctly.
And, of course, a Big Brass Bell.

No comments yet? Sweet looking bike and love the color.
What fenders are you running? Your bike looks like it has similar clearance to my langster.

Anyhow, is bad that I can not wait to trash the paint on my bike so that I can powdercoat it?
All my bikes are stock. Nice and boring.

Thanks, DataJunkie. I have the SKS chromoplastic fenders. I could probably mount 28mm tires without, max 25mm with fenders. I had to get creative with p-clips and zipties, but they fit well and remain solid.

Indeed it is. I'm just guessing on location, but is that pic from down on the South Side?

Here is my new commuting rig as well - 1992 Bianchi Axis. I have a rack lying around that I still need to throw on as well.
