Do you always carry that board? It's on every single pic you post.

The boards are part of the function of the trailers. That particular one is for wet weather(no trucks and wheels) so it gets swapped to any bike I happen to be riding in the rain. I've got boards for all the bikes though..

So those are just longboard decks that you put on there? I know xtracycle has a board that goes on top, is there an advantage to using a longboard deck instead of that, or is it just something that you already had and so didn't want to buy the xtracycle one?

Yep, my wife and I are both longboarders, and when I bought my first xtracycle, it was a great way to haul my board to hills that were too far away to conveniently skate to.

It was much more convenient to drill holes and use it as the snapdeck. Both freeing up space in the bags and keeping it from getting banged around in the back as well. As we got more and more xtracycles, we both liked the look of them with longboards back there instead of the original snapdeck. Now we are always ready to cruise a hill if we come across one and also have "longboarding 101" classes whenever we have people over for a after dinner bike ride(or to dinner) Most everybody can get the basics on easy hills very quickly- they are much more stable than skateboards.

Bikes: Yes

So, at the risk of committing blasphemy, why so many extra cycles? I mean I can see what the tandem adds, but do the others do different things too?

So you're the one who bought up all the Xtracycles and you're the reason I can't find one for sale! Curse you!

Great photos though, and my compliments to your beautiful wife.

My ride--the latest

I posted a pic of my bike shortly after I bought it, but I've made some changes, and thought I'd post it again. It's turned into quite the frankenbike.

Changes:
1. Drop road bars
2. one bar-end shifter (didn't pay close enough attention to the auction, and got only one!)
3. mountain-bike shifter for the front
4. bags, mirror and lights.

It's still a cheapo, odd bike, and even uglier, but I like the white tape. ;-) I was going to change it (I bought the bars with the brake levers and tape), but after looking at it on the bike, I think I like it. Now I only need metalic fenders to make it even weirder. ;-)
