OK, it made sort of a mess! I used my thumbnail and they broke up into(sort of egg shell like) tiny little pieces that stuck to everything! The frame was right out of the box and the paint was still soft.

Isn't the trick you cover the label in duct tape and then yank it off.

You're overthinking it. Just scrape them off. You're not going to hurt the powdercoat. Plastic scraper or equivalent.

anyone know of any bike/frame that is matte/flat black without logo right out of the box besides the schwinn cutter?
I want to build a pretty much all flat black bike but want something that is better quality than the schwinn cutter and don't really wanna go through the trouble of getting a bike, stripping the paint, then painting it flat black... |
Hey, folks! Pictures, please!
SnowTown, I don't know. I just bought the fixed gear bike Nashbar recently had on sale for less than $350. It's a no-name aluminum frame in glossy black. Some parts are super cheap, but overall, I got a fantastic deal, and the ride is superb. I'd like to get a road version of this frame! |
new ride
My new ride is nearly complete. Packed it up last night and took this terrific :) cellphone pic.
This will be my "poor man's Atlantis" all-rounder bike. That's a sport kite velcro'd to the top tube; brought it to a friend at work today. Waiting to wrap the bar once everything is tuned up. I've got big build-up plans for this bike as the year goes by. 1991 Bridgestone CB-1 http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...1/new_ride.jpg Edit 3-14-09 - Finished: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...Stone_CB-1.png |
It looks groovey, Mango. Gonna put up some more pics? I`ve seen lower level CBs before, but yours is the first CB1. What kind of components does it have?

I am in  with this build! Congrats on a beautiful bike! Do my eyes deceive me, or are there disc mounts on that frame?

This is "Pepe", my 'little mule.' Not glamorous, weighs a ton with my briefcase and other items, but with a few changes to a stock Giant Cypress it turned into a pretty useful and comfortable commuter bike. Has 700 x 38 tires that I want to change to 700 x 32 or 35 - wanna change the front fork to a non shock variety, but for now it's doing the job.

How do you like the steps with the i-9? I switched from a Nexus 8 to the i-9 and love it. Got the Velo Orange bell too. I'll get a photo up tomorrow.
