Nice bike!
|
Picked up a few sets of trekking bars yesterday and decided to fit one set to my Trek 7500 since my back has not been liking the down low position in the drops but need that forward positioning the trekking bars offer.
Took about an hour to set things up and dial things in as I went from friction shifted bar cons to some 1st gen XTR which work really smoothly with all the XT and LX parts on the bike... and they are really nice looking brakes / shifters. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/trekker5.JPG Nice thing about the t bars is how many ways you can set them up. |
I wonder if that will end the topic of regarding if that bike is a hybrid now. I would love to see a close up of those friction shifters. Looks great, I am really digging trekking bars, best upgrade I have done so far
|
Timber - Those XTR (st m900) bits date back to '92 and were the first 8 speed sti group for off road and as they are pretty much new work very well... I am most impressed with the braking action and they are mated to the best cantis ever made... which are also early XTR.

beautifu xtracycle.
|
Have been seeing a fellow here in the mornings who commutes on an Extracycle and provides taxi service to his son who looks to be about 5 or 6... my 10 year old daughter (a wee little thing) also likes getting taxi rides on my Extra-bike

My road commuter. An early 90's Lotus Legend partnered with a Tange fork. Shimano 600 derailleurs, 105 cranks, yadda yadda yadda! I want to find a control tech stem to match... or a Salsa, or 3T Pro Chrome. I need wider bars at the moment as well. No need for fenders here in Phoenix. It works! |
Worked over the UAV tonight... she had a hard winter and needed some TLC.
Got a new stem, bars, recycled some old chromed fenders, and a new bottom bracket went in. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/uav2010a.JPG |
Sixty,
What's the purpose of the padded top tube. Sweat protector? won't get scratched when lockng it? |

Installed that tt protector when I was working as a messenger to protect the frame from locking up 100 times a day and as a winter bike it offers some good padding against freezing oneself to the top tube and if one was to go down on the ice it might save one's knee / leg from getting bashed up.
Ruptured the bursa in my knee and opened it up for half a dozen stitches when I slammed my knee into the top tube of this bike's sister... that kept me off the bike for almost 6 weeks. |
I'm going to pick up new new bike, a Kona Smoke, on Tuesday, along with all the kit. I haven't got a photo, and to be honest it'll likely look pretty generic (albeit lovely), so I drew it instead. And yes, I do have some weird 20 inch spokeless variety of bike...

I thought it was cheap...

No rear derailleur either, but nice artwork just the same.

Just brought her home today after months of waiting. And now the weather is going to be nice enough to ride her. Really my century bike, but all my base miles are commuting. |
Is that a Pacer? How does it ride!?
|
It is a Pacer. The component group came from a 1990 Raleigh Supercourse, all old 6600 and a Biopace crank. Rides like a dream.
