So this is my new commuter. It's a 2010 Schwinn World Street.

monsterpile 11-03-10 12:07 PM

I like that Schwinn World Street. I also like that it looks like you took a pic of it at work. Maybe everyone should be doing that. =)

Nice! Mismatched brakes (aka the "brake mullet"); fenders, slicks, and north road bars on a MTB frame; and a b1tchin' The Maxx paint job = sweet frankenbike. Looks like a fun ride.

Just finished building my new commuter. So far it's been great. Previously I was on doing my time on my road bike. I thought I'd give a more classic look and laid back seating position a shot. It's an old Cross Check. I'm proud of it. It was my first build on my own, so I keep showing it off! :D

Very nice-looking bike man!

Okay -- I've been meaning to do this for a while. This is my day to day ride, a 2010 Kona Dew Drop, mostly stock, except for the cargo carrying items, bell and lights. The major additions are the Topeak Super Tourist rack, Avenir Excursion Panniers.

I'm still debating the merits of various fender options, and waiting until next pay period (or two).

*** hmmm.... why do the pictures show in edit mode, but not in the post itself?***

As long as you promise to wash it really, really, really well before you take it into the OR.

Here's my Surly Long Haul Trucker with the recent addition of a Wald 137 basket. Love wire baskets on top of porteur racks! Light, tough, and extremely practical.

latest additions to my gary fisher mendota: 130mm stem, brass bell (I like the hammer that makes a "HUGE DONG ;)" sound), soma sparrow bars (490mm for the NYC traffic squeeze). picture taken on Williamsburg Bridge.

Those are the 50-degree Aldrich bars from Civia:

No work today, and no errands to run, so I took my commuter out on a relaxing, recreational ride down by the river. My favorite biking weather; not too hot,
and not too cool... just right. Took a pic while relaxing for a moment by the Thames. Yes... this London has a Thames river as well. Looks like the ducks were
taking a break, too. Unfortunately, that orange and black roadwork pylon and similar detritus is an all too common sight along the river. I'll never understand
why some folks have such disregard for the environment.

Sixty Fiver I always admire the bikes you show us. Thanks. I can dream for free. The problem is when I try to find a bike in my frame size. Not all bikes are made 47 to 48 CM. And when they do they put 26ers instead of 700 C wheels on them. I am hooked on the feeling of speed with the 700s.

That's a Pass & Stow made by Matt Feeney in San Francisco. You can read more about it here:

Sounds like you would really like a cross bike... 700c wheels and tough enough to handle the fun stuff and well set up for the road.

What rear rack is that? It looks like it is slung pretty far back, I am looking for a rack that can help me get rid of my heel strike issue.

That, sir, is an excellent looking bike. Practical and sporty. You MTB commuters with your drop bars, though, you all should form a club. Has that been brought up in this thread?

It's a Topeak Super Tourist DX Tubular Rack w/disc mounts. They also have a non-disc-specific model which I have on one of
my other bikes, and heel strike is a non-issue with either bike:

Thank you, thank you... I believe the MTB Drop Bar Club is currently scouting an appropriate site for our world headquarters building :thumb:

Seeing as some of our members are Canadians, we might need something a little more... "international"? is the International Peace Park in MN available? Or is there a good Chinese place near the border?
