I went up Harlem Road when going from West Seneca to Cheektowaga. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bike lane on sections of it.

I was a little jealous at first after seeing that photo too, but then I remembered that the novelty wears off pretty quickly. I am already looking forward to spring of 2011!

Looks like it is supposed to warm up so all that snow will be gone... might even be able to wear shorts on the weekend.

And if you want to see something really white... you should see my legs.

Hi Sixty Fiver!

Looks like the High Level Bridge :D I'm a newbie here and in bike commuting (just started Sept 2010) and hoping to learn much from the overwhelming amount of info and cycling enthusiasts here.

I just hope I can keep cycling throughout this winter season, but I'm taking it one day at a time and that seems to work for me so far in sticking to this newfound purposeful exercise.

And yes... that is the High Level Bridge and you should already know that going south brings you up and riding north you can coast along at a pretty nice speed.

Well if everything goes as planned this weekend with the kuwahara build these will be the last pics of the M-50, gots the front rack back on as of late ive been using it to hold all my rain gear, and my rack just is not liking my new sunlite bag, and the new axiom rack i bought does not work with the M-50 so im hoping i have the time to finish the kuwahara:)

Here are three pictures of my commuter / group ride bike that I took much earlier this year. I've got Look Keo Clipless pedals on it now that aren't shown in this picture, and I swapped out the bar end caps for some nice brushed aluminum ones I bought for $1, but other than that- it's exactly like it is now. I really wanted the disc brakes so that I could stop in the rain. All in all, I'm very happy with it. It's rocking a triple (50/39/30) and a rather high range rear cassette (11-34). I wanted something with a large range when I bought this bike cause I was I wanted to be able to easily carry a lot of gear with me, and since I was a bit concerned I wouldn't be able to make it up hills without it- but recently I've been biking almost exclusively on the large chain ring, and going up hills without going any lower than the 23T rear cog pretty easily. I love this bike, but it is a bit heavy- weighing about 35 lbs or so with the pedals. Thus I am contemplating buying a proper road bike sometime this winter or next spring so that I can more easily keep up with some of the faster group rides around where I live. I'd like something that's either a 50/34 with a 11-23, or a 53/39 with a 12/25, with more aggressive road geometry and a carbon frame. I've done a few long (2+ hour) test rides with such bikes, and it made going up hills SO much easier.

But I love this bike. I've easily put more than 2,000 miles on it since I bought it in July, and I will be sad when it's time to move it to a trainer for the winter. :(

I am a Fred, new term to me, I think I'm using it correctly.

So far the only add ons are the bontrager lights and rear tire.

A wooden trunk for the rear rack is in the planning, I dont think it needs much else. I do wonder how it will hold up, but as my commute is very short, I am optimistic.

No need for the trainer; the disc brakes, full-coverage fenders, and room for fat (i.e., studded) tires make your bike an ideal candidate for a winter commuter! :thumb:
It can be your foul-weather commuter and your dream CF road bike can be saved for sunny days.

I would love to do that, but I've got two problems. First, most of my commute in to work is along fairly busy roads and involves crossing one major highway over-pass and a railway overpass. I already tend to get buzzed by cars at narrow points in the road, such as the overpasses- despite the fact that the cars have plenty of room to give me a lot of clearance- once we get snow on the ground, it'll may get worse. Second, and in many ways the bigger problem- I don't think my wife would go for it. She's already deathly afraid that I'm going to get hit by a car, bus, or a truck. She insists that I email her every morning before I leave the house, and then again once I get in to work, so that she doesn't have to worry. But I may try and work on her anyway. :D

Well i got the kuwahara frame and forks painted got the BB in should be getting all the assembly done tonight, maybe. When i get it together ill take some non phone pictures

For the non icy winter commutes... just installed new old wheels and some 2.125 Kenda Komodo tyres which roll out unbelievably well... it is like riding on a cloud with a jet engine.

Here's my son's Novarra Forza. I picked it up on CL for a pretty good price. I just finished converting to the drop bars & brifters (it originally came with a straight bar w/bullhorn extensions). This is the first modern road bike I've worked on. Many minor differences from what I'm used to, especially the stem & shifters. And I'm really impressed with the Tektro brakes.

Just finished building my new commuter. So far it's been great. Previously I was on doing my time on my road bike. I thought I'd give a more classic look and laid back seating position a shot. It's an old Cross Check. I'm proud of it. It was my first build on my own, so I keep showing it off! :D

I was always surprised they never made it, I got set of old magura's ive been thinking about using on something, but i never liked the fact they are bright yellow maybe ill give em paint job and start a new project.
