Definitely on my list as well. The Specialized Body Geometry saddle isn't as terrible as people make it out to be, but it still sucks pretty hard..

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3292/...367bc121_z.jpg I've also got some Sunlite panniers. They do the job, but I wish I could find something more in line with the style of the bike. Bags are friggin' expensive though! |

Some new pics of the rig:

No rack, too short, rusty chain, and missing a back brake. I had a week-long conference north of LA a few years ago, so I flew out and picked this bike up at Salvation Army ($60). It was the only one they had that had both a working front brake and a chain that wasn't seized. I donated it back before I left. I even managed to get reimbursed for it! |

I will be finding a set of better matching panniers soon, because I am vain like that :) Love this bike, BTW. |
Glad you like it! It is a Specialized Globe Haul 1, last years model. I am going to load it all up and get a good picture of it to show it loaded too, soon. It is an excellent choice for commuting, I will say that. I fell in love with it when I tested it out, and just had to have it :) I really like its integrated lighting system, and the upright position is extremely nice for getting around town.

Very excited about my new Kona Dew (2011). Stock except for rack and mirror. But the more I read these forums, the more ideas I get for future goodies. I'm thinking MSK Sylvan Touring pedals, fenders, maybe a Brooks down the road. Do you think the honey brown brooks would look skilly with the sedona red color? Would black be better, in your opinions? Now it's time to hit the pavement!

phx1973, great looking Kona. I am quite partial to the Kona Dew having recently sold my Dew Deluxe and taking delivery of a Dr. Fine three days ago. I am thinking along the same line as you and ordered a Brooks B72 in antique brown and will also put on Ergon cork grips. Pics later on when I also get the silver SKS fenders and Soma rack installed. What a great line of bikes!

Here's my new commuter.
Before: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...TkxMS5qcGc.jpg and after a few changes to suit my preferences/needs: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...DkzNS5qcGc.jpg Kudos to those who can spot the changes! |
New pedals, seat, brake shoes, and bag.
Removed rear wheel reflector. What did I miss? |

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=204763 As for the Honey/Brown Brooks...I'd probably pass and get the black unless you plan on getting brown grips. Either way you should check out a Brooks. I have around 100 miles or so on mine and I'm liking it. |
New grips?

New grips, removed all the reflectors (front, rear, front and rear wheels), added computer, brake pads swapped for Kool Stop Salmons, new pedals, new setback seatpost, new saddle, bag, and a Radbot 1000. When this set of tires go, a pair of GatorSkins will go on the bike as well. |
Just after a 20 mile ride in 100+ temps with my pops.

New to me. Clip on "be seen" lights for night riding, but nothing else as it sits on campus all day. :( |
My new 7.5 FX rigged for commuting. I can bring into my office so no security concerns.

Raleigh capri 2.0. It's a little pink for my tastes, but I'll replace the handlebar tape when it wears out/I get around to it. However, I love it despite minor cosmetic shortcomings.

An updated pic of the Masi Speciale with the Selle SMP saddle. The bike is torn apart at the moment. I'm swapping out the 16t rear with an 18t. I also have some black moustache bars and orange tape on the way.
