It seems that the brake cable sheath, where it goes past your seatpost, is a little long. It curves too much, increasing friction.

Compare it with Fizzaly's bike, in Mr Pink 57's post, just above this....

Doing the Dew

Lots of upgrades to my Kona Dew in the last two weeks, which has been mostly stock since I bought it earlier in the year. Now it has a Brooks B17 saddle. Yup, I drank the kool-aid, and it is mmm-mmm good! I also switched out the crappy stock pedals for some Shimano M324's, switched out the grips for Ergon with bar-ends, and also added a saddle bag and rear rack with panniers. The LBS guy also reminded me that I needed a couple water bottle cages. I am starting to actually feel like a commuter now. Happy anniversary to me (the wife got diamond ear-rings). haha

Yeah I'm not trimming it down until I get the fenders in and get the rack mounted, to assure everything plays nicely together.

This bag right here, that was the first time I had used it running a few errands.

I am 5'9" but this bike was bought for me when I was about 12 years old (28 now). It's a Titec Hellbent has 1.5" of setback. Good luck finding one, I had to call Dog the Bounty Hunter to track one of these things down for me especially in a 26.6 size which is like seeing a flying unicorn.

The bike rides like a dream especially with the addition of the Mary Bars (handed down from my MTB), the stem is a 120mm so you can imagine this frame is pretty small. I am currently in the process of finding a decently priced disc SS hub so I can run a tomicog.

I try to ride everyday except the last two days I didn't because on Saturday I joined the world in protest but I rode my bike 65 miles round trip and it was up hill all the way back so I was pretty sore the next day. Yesterday, the winds were gusting 40-50 miles all day long and since I was still sore I chose not to ride. But today I rode and it was great as always. I really enjoy this bike, I've also added a mirror which I always have on all my bikes and I put some ergo grips which I've had on my last two bikes. Those that haven't tried the ergo grips I highly recommend them.

Safe riding to everyone.

Yes, they are. I just got them last week. I like them a lot, I noticed a difference in my pedaling the first time I used them.

I tried using IGHs to enhance my SS, but now I am riding a 1x7. I found IGHs geared too far apart and unforgiving when I wanted to go fast and shift hard while pedaling. I am using 7/10 of a Shimano 105 cassette, 105 derailleur and a D-A bar-end shifter. I have 42T front paired with 12-13-14-15-16-17-19. It's everything I need and nothing I don't need.

The Hope SS/Trials hub has just enough room for 7 10-speed gears.

The RMB frame came with an aluminum fork without disc tabs so I replaced it with a Nashbar Cyclocross fork.

Tubus "Disco" rack claims to be disc compatible, but I had to use an extension to obtain adequate clearance on my bike.

That's some precision bits-n-piece'ing if I've ever heard of it. Cool. How'd you figure it all out, particularly the hub?

It wasn't too technical at all. I had built the wheel previously for my Single Speed. The nice thing about the Hope hub is that it builds a nice dishless wheel and the freehub has 48 points of engagement (there is only a maximum of 7.5 degrees of free movement). When I decided to add gears I knew there was enough space for at least 6 gears, but certainly not 10. I had the 105 cassette laying around and from there it was just a matter of checking the fit so that the lockring would hold the gears tight. I have a few 0.5mm cassette spacers available for playing around with cassettes, but I didn't need one in this instance.

here she is with all of her lights.

new mount for el-330 cateye, and fresh battery for rear right fork blinkie.

the only thing i do not set to flash mode is the cateye which cannot be set to flash, and even if it did i would like to keep it steady as it actually will light the road well.

1950 Raleigh Sports

Picked the bike up on Thursday morning and have ridden it nearly 80 km already... added the rack, light, and pump last night to make it more utilitarian.

Found this guy on craigslist about a year ago... ~2006 Specialized Sequoia. It needed a new saddle and seatpost, and I added the fenders and changed the pedals... and this guy has served me well through all kinds of weather. It had the Mavic Aksium wheels on it when I got it, and they've been solid. Next steps are to replace the adjustable stem with a fixed stem and shorten the cables which just have tooooooo much length in them. The image that just popped into my head is one of riding on top of a flying spaghetti monster, but I digress.
