My recumbent commuter. On my commute (28 km.'s one way) I carry a 10 liter seatbag that I can attach to the back of the seat and which also acts as a rear mudguard. On the front derailleur boom there is a clamp to attach a bright battery powered flashlight for riding at night. (but I also have a battery powered very bright LED light on my helmet).

I'd recommend flipping the taillight if possible. It slides down rather than up the way it's mounted now, so a good bump could get it to fall off (vs a good bump the other way would still need to get it to slide up far enough to get out of the bracket). It looks like there should be enough clearance with the top bar of the rack (to slide the light in) if you use the horizontal mounting holes on the taillight bracket. Just a thought.

A lousy phonecam pic of my bike on the train during my first bike commute. 19 miles of riding and a 30 minute train ride. The biggest problem was just getting my lazy butt out of bed and hour and a half earlier than I'm used to.

Yes, round trip is 38 miles plus an hour on the train. It's a wash on time, as my driving commute and time spent riding comes to about the same time as bike commuting, but I'm converting an hour of the driving time to bike time.

Finally got my bike commuterized - about 90%. Still need to get a frame pump, and the lights are in the mail. A kind BF member has posted hybrid pedals, so those will go on once I get them. Will probably save towards cycling spd shoes now - why are those things so freaking expensive?! Haven't seen anything lower than $100 in REI or Performance. Buying online is tricky w.r.t shoe fitting.

Finally got around to posting a pic of my new commuter from this spring. Took the picture on my ride home from the shop . Its an MEC Chance 11spd, alfine igh, aluminum frame, carbon fiber frontforks and seat post,and shamanio hydraulic disc brakes. 2000kms in and I'm still lovin it.

The Daily Driver- Got pedal covers for the speedplays- work well if I want to ride in street shoes. The dynohub is probably the best investment I've made on this bike- no more batteries!

Heh, I've been meaning to fix that. I flipped it up because the little tab on the mounting bracket for the light(that should be pointing down) was rubbing with the fender and pushing it a little to the side making the fender rub the tire.

This is my commuter, 10 miles a day, 5 days a week. I know itīs not the usual commuter, but itīs the best way to let the other guys wonder if itīs the bike or the biker the reason they were overtook

Love seeing all the commuter bikes, and hear about those actually commuting to work, etc. I do as well, and use my utility trailer to get groceries as much as possible. But yet, there are some that don't get it. They'd rather drive the 3 km to a store. I can beat them there and back, with a monsterous hill in the vineyard, all because I'm on trails............no traffic lights. Thanks for sharing everyone!
