I really like this one. That frame bag is really nice. Give your friend props. Favorite part about this bike: the coffee mug in the bottle holder. Nothing better on a cold day while waiting at a red light

If that the Gravity Zilla 29er from BD? How do you like it, especially on road? I could prolly guess it's amazing off road...

Hey, new to the forum. Thought I'd post my commuter bike. Love this thing, so comfortable and smooth. My first nice bike and have been commuting back and forth to school for the past semester. Felt great and it's nice to ride on the cold New Hampshire mornings haha.

Yeah it is the Gravity Zilla. It rides nice on the road, smoother than my roadbike and quicker than my mountain bike. I can feel the extra resistance of the semi-knobby tires compared to my road bike but that is to be expected. I have taken it on some single track and it handles very good! I love the fit, it feels like you are sitting in the bike instead of on it! Overall I would say it is exactly as described on BD...sort of a jack of all trades-master of none type bike!

Here's my bike which I use for commuting. Diamondback Copperhead (circa 2007) with rack & SPD pedals. Front tire: Continental Touring Plus. Rear tire: Continental City Contact. Just about everything has been repaired, replaced or upgraded at some point. Only change since this pic are the studded tires. It's gone through 3 years of 3 season commuting. This is my first winter of commuting so we'll see how the bike survives.

Thorn Raven Tour, really love this one.(Btw, i use Alfine instead of Rohloff. That one's too expensive for me.):)

What bars are those? I'm looking for a set that has a lot of sweep but more reach, and those look like just the ticket. Do you have a shot of the bars from the cockpit?

Mardmakarm 01-08-12 06:46 PM

This one is Soma Lauterwasser Handlebar, I don't have a shot on cockpit yet but you can find some on google pics.:)

My New Commuter! It is a 2000 Magna with like no miles on it when I picked it up on Friday night. Saturday I spend time adjusting the bars, seat, and brakes. The fenders from a Schwinn are going to be fitted, painted, and added..... along with a back rack.

Enjoy!

Ah finally, someone else with a Torker! I've been loving my for almost 2 years now. It's a burly, reliable, all weather, commuter no?

Here it s sporting its commuting guise, including an Alfine 8 in lieu of the Sturmey S3X I had originally installed. Since this pic was taken, I've shellac'ed and twined the bars, and fully housed the shifter cable to the hub armature.

Great ride.. have an '11 Marinoni. build well and bomb proof

I have hybrid version of this bike with that sweet spatter paint job. Its like the bike is made out of an Oreo Blizzard or something. =) I think I might have to give up on the idea of building up because I don't think it will fit me the way I would want it to.

Would you post some more pics of the bike? I would like to see some real world pics of one.

Ok after much intrernal struggle, research, and hawking Craigslist for almost 2 months I ended up pulling the trigger on a 2011 Kona Paddy Wagon. I ended up getting it for $350 which I thought was a pretty decent deal for a new bike. Its going to be my commuter during the warmer months. What say you BF, any of you have any experience with this bike, words of wisdom, things I need to consider, etc?

That was on my short list when I was shopping for a new commuter - I decided I didn't like the track ends because I wanted full fenders... doable but more hassle.

Why only during warm months? That's a great foul-weather bike... if you can get the fenders worked out.

Just got new wheels for the commuter/touring bike. Fuzion M1's. Sorry about the terrible picture as my cameras battery died right as I was going to take a picture. So i had to use my cell phone.

Edit: I just took a better picture...

Hooray! Finally, another zilla rider. I got mine around Thanksgiving and have been commuting a couple times a week as long as the weather's been cooperating. It's perfect for it, though, I still need to get some fenders for mine.

I've seen pictures of full fenders, specifically SKS p35 fenders on several Paddy Wagons. Erm, aren't those full fenders..I could be wrong?
I bought it because specifically because I thought it had eyelets for both so I could mount fenders and a rack from the seat post for light duty

Edit: I found these pictures that show fenders on a Paddy Wagon

Beautiful bike. How was the whole process of switching out the bars? I'd love to do something similar with my old MTB commuter, but I've been told that it wouldn't be worth the effort and cost (replacing the brake levers and shifters, etc). Or were you somehow able to keep your flatbar fittings?

Love it! Living proof that functioning commuters can be inexpensive and easily acquired. Kudos on finding a used set of fenders, too. :D

Thanks. The shifters were easy clamp-on and just required a longer screw. The brake levers I took apart and filed, reamed and hammered. They work but I still want these Tektro
