Pake C'mute Build 52 cm Pake C'mute Frame (55.5 TT) Steel Nashbar Touring Fork (repainted) Wheels / components adopted from an old Sora road bike 32c Vittoria Randonneur tires w/ reflective strip SKS Fenders "Campus" style SPD pedals BanjoBrothers Waterproof Pannier Seat stolen from my Fuji. I like the color scheme but it will probably change at some point. I think it's going to be a great commuter. It's 27ish pounds, but nothing on it can be considered "light weight". I need to upgrade the brake pads and resolve some shifting issues before she is 100%. I plan to do some light tours and also slap some cyclocross tires on for off road adventures at some point. First commute on it this morning - cold, wet, and windy! |

How do you like the N360 hub? I've been thinking about replacing my Nexus 8 (it hasn't really handled the rain and potholes in my new town very well) with either an Alfine-11 or N360. I like mine quite a bit. |

Thanks for the tip on the thread! |
Today I finally bit the bullet and got splash guards on my road bike for commuting. I had been holding out because I dont think it looks good on the bike. but Living in Holland and winter being a quite wet season I just couldnt do it. I have two other bikes fully fendered and weather proof, but they are heavy and slow for my 54 kilometer round trip commute.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...F1F2EC2557.jpg and also decided to remove the front derailleur and big ring since I really never change to the big ring. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...F1EE00646B.jpg |

I'm familiar with the N360, but I didn't know about the Nuvinci Harmony until you mentioned automatic shifting. Had to look it up. What kind of battery are you using to power it and how frequently do you think you will need to charge the battery?
I helped develop a system that interfaces with the N360 using a modified version of their shift hub interface which talks to a new controls system (which I interface with using my Droid phone). It uses a small battery that is continuously recharged by a front hub dynamo so I never have to plug it in. It's pretty neat and I'll PM you some more info once I hit the 50 post threshhold. :) |

I'm not actually using the Harmony automatic shifting system in its stock configuration.

My primary commuter - 'Big Red', a Giant FCR3500. Bought April 2011, now with over 12300km on it.

Had this Walmart Raleigh for a year, which I thought was pretty decent for commuting, nothing breakdown for a year of commuting in snow or rain, and I think to myself "why do you need expensive bikes when such cheap bike is enough ?"
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=291964 Then I switched to Raleigh sojourn just recently (can't pass on the sweet discount), and I finally realize 'what you pay is what you get', it is super light compare to my Walmart Raleigh, the bike really justify the price :). http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=291965 |
Hi,
Was too busy with too many projects and pastimes (including a lot of racing) to get this finished in a timely manner. Finally got it done near the end of 2012: http://www.pbase.com/cleavel/image/1...0/original.jpg Only ridden it a few times and only one time to work so far. :o It's a combination of brand-spanking new and old to very old parts. |
Pgeters, love the front light mount

IGH or is it single/fixed? Like the belt drive! |

Yeah, Cleave, that Stop is bangin'! Great aesthetics, man.
|
Thanks seansimp925, it's a single-speed. My route to and from work is relatively flat. Also, I geared it relatively low because this is part of a personal experiment to ride (to work) like the Dutch.
Thanks chaadster. For reference, Stop Cycles (One Ghost Industries) is the manufacturer. The model name is Proletariat. |
