Hi, long time lurker here.

Here is the commuter I built up for this year, it is sans fenders in this picture but this is currently my main source of transportation as the car sits in the garage with it's tires losing air and its' battery going flat. It is a Surly Pacer with mostly Chorus 10 speed gear and various go fast bits that were bought second hand bike stores.

I like this frame a lot, the pacer rides so nice with good components...enough so that I pulled the doner campy parts from my Great Googly Mooglly!!!

That looks hot! I love british racing green, and the spoke lacing and high-flange hubs are really cool too. Let the car rot!

This machine just keeps on evolving over time. It's addicting. This is my main all season commuter and is a 650B frame buildup with 26 x 1.5 slicks and it is super plush and fairly nimble for a MTB.

Baby panniers are sweet! Handmade from lunchboxes? Also, what is that cute little brake-boss-mount rack?

Hey noglider. It's all pretty much flat, BUT I can climb like a goat on/off road.

Thanks. The bags are made for goggles. The front rack is made from Nashbar. Had to wait like 3 months before I got it (i.e. back ordered).

Replacement for the old commuter, sans rack, because it's also my travel bike.

That's hot, but I can't read the logo. Tell me more! Diggin the all-top-tube cable routing and the cable stops on the (wishbone!) chainstay.

Looks like "elephant"

RubeRad 08-12-13 11:01 AM

My CC got a bit of a makeover with some true Fatties (which Fit Fine, thankyouverymuch) in the form of Vee Rubber V12 29x1.95 (fyi 1.95"~50mm, but when mounted it's more like 45mm), so here's a new pic (yes, that front tire is flat). Originally, the bike was named by my wife "Blimey" because of the blue+lime color scheme. But with these new clown shoes, I have rechristened it according to my very favorite name from the Utah Baby Namer: behold BEEFEA!

Yup, Elephant. Run by Glen Copus in Spokane, WA. Couplers, cables routed up top, and he does the wishbone seatstays on all his cross bikes. Rack mounts are clever integrated into the top of the seatstays too. Only had it a few months, but I really love this bike. Been on a few trips already as well. 21lb built up as shown.

This might be the first Elephant posted on BF. I almost went with one but bought a Co-motion Espresso frame/fork instead. I should finish the build this spring.

Espresso is real nice. Totally glad I got the Elephant though. Since it would be in and out of a suitcase and occasionally hauling groceries/beer, didn't actually want a super fancy tubeset so I wouldn't feel bad about some abuse. Frame feels great though. Can't bend the bottom bracket like I could on my last steel cross bike. Real joy to ride. If I had to decrease my bike number from 3 to 1, this would be it (But I still have a Gunnar Roadie when I need to keep up with the fast kids :)).
