I was run off the road a couple weeks ago on my Time Machine. The other guys insurance cut a check so I got two of these instead of another Time Machine. Now the next time I get run off the road I will have another bike ready to roll!

Set the first one up today!

I'm 5" 10" tall and I'm comfortable with my bike.

Umbrella holder...what will they think of next?!

Cool btw...

If you were on a time machine, why didn't you just go back in time before the accident to avoid it? :p The BMC looks fabulous BTW.

I built this for myself a week ago, and today was the first day I commuted on it. It's quick!

My latest commuter. Not fast, but fun and provides protection from the weather and loads of luggage space.

I like the looks of that. You won't be sitting completely upright on it.

I am already contemplating swapping it out for a slightly higher stem. I do not want to be straight up but I also do not want to feel like I am riding with drops either.

tolesy, my recommendation is to try it as it is for a while. Then before changing the height of your bars, try bars that are swept back, such as North Road bars.

A stem will be far easier to change if it's not too tall. When I changed to swept back bars (FSA Metropolis) I had to replace every cable on the bike because the cables were too short to reach the controls in their new positions. Plus flat-bar style controls require longer cables on swept-back bars to keep from kinking as they curve around to the top/down tubes.

noglider 10-06-15 10:30 AM

That's a good point, PatrickGSR94. You might as well make the easy test before the hard test.

PatrickGSR94 10-06-15 11:28 AM

To be fair, when I put a stem riser on my wife's bike, I had to do the same thing for the same reason - replace all cables. But if he just replaces the stem with one with a steeper angle, or otherwise doesn't raise it too terribly much, the cables should be okay.

tolesy 10-06-15 11:49 AM

Picking up the bike this evening after work. LBS said they think they can go as high as a 24* without swapping cables. I'll report back later. Thanks for all the tips guys!

Las réplicas continúan disminuyendo intensidad, todo en orden por ahora.

Picked up a Trek 2nd district a couple months ago, hated the color so my painter buddy painted it for me :thumb: ordered some new parts turned out pretty nice I think... Still will change the crankset and brakes to black in the future I think. Will see how it rides this weekend I hope. This will be my grocery bike so I will pick up a set of Ortleib pannier's soon :thumb:

Performance Bike here has about three of those on the floor. At least I think they're the same.
How is it to get it up to speed, maintain speed, and steer?

Yes. It is only about 76cm wide. I can get it through my front door at home, although it now lives in the garage.

This particular velomobile weighs approximately 34km and is not super aerodynamic. It is reasonably hard work getting it up to speed. I have to work my way up through the gears in the Rohloff hub. Once up to speed it maintains it well. It is fun to ride into a wind as it is not slowed as much in headwinds and crosswinds. It leans a bit during cornering but goes around them ok. I haven't lifted a wheel yet, but take a wider line going around corners at speed. I slow down for sharper corners.
