haha I've never seen a "fluted" seat post before. Sort of reminds me of a lightsaber or something. [/nerd] :P

Nashbar sold them for a while, I had one.

My new Custom Civia Hyland on my commute today it was a rare drizzling day in Tucson, AZ.

I still need to install the dynamo lighting.

More common in vintage, I think, when high-end seatposts were still metal. Apparently fluting, along with drillium, was just for weight, although pantographed fluting can be very pretty.

Drizzling in Tucson?! So you guys 'stole' the chance of rain that was promised to SoCal yesterday in this blazing heat!

Hehe, yeah, the rain did cool it off here, but it was still over 80 deg. (while it was raining) and 100% humidity at 10am.

I commend you. I saw the sprinkles in Phoenix and decided to drive.

Although, my commute is almost 40 miles round trip and the thought of getting caught in a downpour on the way didn't sound all that fun.

How's the sunrace shift for you? When you say 'full' how much did it cost and how many components were included? RD obviously, but FD? Shifters? Crank?

I took the pics with a gopro, by full drivetrain I mean cassette chain rear derail and bar end shifters. I manage a bike shop so I get a little discount off of parts. I think retail for all the parts im in approx $400 with the tires new rear wheel the drivetrain components brake levers bars and some bar tape.also the sunrace is great. I have never been so please with a lesser value shimano part. We sell a large quantity of them as replacements and have less complaints about SR than Shim factory parts. I have not changed out the front der or the crankset. I am going with a fsa crankset I have in my spare parts bin at home, so im just gooing to blow this crank and BB out first.

I have one, StrongLight brand, on my old Schwinn. It's not original to the bike, and I can't remember where it came from.

I never seen one neither until I pick up my 85 Tempo a few years ago. At least I know what it called now.:)

Picked this up about a month ago still haven't ridden it.... Hopefully soon.

RubeRad 09-19-15 07:35 PM

why would you buy a bike and not even ride it? That's a sign you have a problem. Go ahead and stand up, "Hi, my name is kflagg, and I'm a bike addict..."

I'll get around to it don't rush me lol. Between buying a home and moving along with working crazy hours lately I haven't had the time.

Not stem spacers, but a stem extender. Yeah, I think it looks odd, like the frame is too small. It's a Large, 57cm. They made an XL at 61 which would have *looked* like a better fit, as I found out after buying it. But the fit is pretty good. I just had to get the bars up high enough. They could still come back a little more, and this would be problem with the longer top tube on the XL size. so is there any disadvantage to running a smaller frame with the seat post up and stem extender to get the bars up? This is my upright bike, after all. The bars on my Lemond are a good bit lower the than saddle.

Hey, if it works well for you that's all that matters. Pedal On!

Breezer Uptown 8 with modifications:

1. Trekking bar. I wanted more hand positions than the single position I had on the stock swept bar. I'm finding the side grips to be the most comfortable cruising position. Far-side grips work as I had hoped against headwinds. The closest colors the LBS had to "matching" the rest of the bike were black and white - I found that too boring.

2. MKS Lambda platform pedals. Loving the huge surface area and grip. The battleaxe shape looks metal as hell too.

I know that BMX is not build for commuting and there's more suitable bikes for that but well I've done it. I setup my bmx bike (20" wheels size) to a higher seatpost and longer seat, put a basket, side mirror, mudguard, umbrella holder, front and back lights, etc... like this...

http://s16.postimg.org/yov6tx801/120...36789393_n.jpghttp://s16.postimg.org/hztqy0bep/120...88403172_n.jpg

I'm 5" 10" tall and I'm comfortable with my bike.
