Thank you kindly. I like the shot as well

I just picked up my new bike tonight. Trek 520 Disc.
Bad picture; it's dark out. I left my other bike at the shop and rode this one home. Other than needing to get used to bar end shifters it's great....well, I only rode it 1.6 miles.

The crank is a Sugino RD3000 triple. We built it up with a mishmash of parts.

Nice -- your lime green accents are much better coordinated than mine:

Since that pic I have added a fourth shade of green with some sickly-pale lime-ish green shifter&brake cables.

I'm getting my new Soma Saga close to how I want it set up. Added some SKS Longboard fenders and swapped the silver rear rack for a black one that matches the frame better. Came across a new Soma stem on eBay for about $7 and it was too good to pass up. Bought a Louis Garneau racktop bag to carry my gear. Finally, I've got a new wheelset with black Velocity Dyad rims that I still need to install, and then it will be complete.

I bought the Saga to be my go-to bike for loaded touring, but it will also make a great commuter and MUT-rider. It was baptized last week when I had to ride home through a nor'easter and the fenders worked great.

I love your ride! Is this your primary commuter?

I love it too! Indeed it is! I am also looking at an SE tripel for non-cargo trips whenever i can get the funds together. :)

a spring loaded bail on the rack makes hauling things so much easier. I often leave the panniers when my daily stuff will fit in a small messenger bag. But stopping for a 6er on the way home is NEVER a problem.

Cool. What kind of bike is your commuter? It looks sort of compact and agile and yet still looks like a smooth riding bike. Sorry, I'm still sort of bike ignorant at t his point.

Very beautiful bikes.

It is a 2012 breezer uptown infinity with an uptown 8 frame. Frame was damaged in shipping and since the frames are identical they sent the first available one, which happened to be the 8. The infinity frame for 2012 is a copper & black affair. The 8 frame is green and moss. The infinity is called such because it has a CVT drive instead of a geared hub, giving you "infinite" gears. The frame is a handy compromise between a road geometry and a dutch style geometry. It is a 23.5 inch frame size, which is a larger size. I am tall, so i need the larger frame. It has "town" style handlebars which are comfortable and easy to reach shifter, brakes, bell, but because of the frame geometry it puts most of your weight on the seat & allows the rider to sit back a bit on flat areas, basically it is a very user friendly layout. The wheels are standard 26 inch 36 hole alu rim brake model DH19 from alexrims. Front spokes are OEM, rear spokes are sapim strong spokes. Front tire is freedom cruz 26x1.5, rear tire is kenda kwik trax 1.75 Both have reflective sidewalls for added safety. Brakes are gereric OEM tektro V brakes. It has a dyno hub on front wheel which powers front & rear lights. It has composite polycarbonate wrapped aluminum fenders - the rear fender's middle 2 alu bits act as conductors to connect dyno hub wire to rear light, the rear light also houses the capacitor for the whole system (both lights stay on when stopped). Pedals and cranks are alu & open platform. :)

On the back is OEM rack, and a pair of trek interchange panniers the shop threw in with the purchase. The yellow bits are the rain covers for the panniers. :)

Didn't commute today, but did get to play around in the snow for the first time on my bike. The roads were a little slushy, but mainly just wet by the time I finally got outside.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=423688

i was telling my wife that I want to do that for my bike. I plan to this weekend.
Do you think the lights are distracting to you while riding? does it mess with your vision as you ride? ps i think it looks cool

While the glow coming from below is a little weird, I have not found it distracting. Now, if they were colored and flashing... maybe.

I will probably be removing the lights this weekend-- the weather forecast for next week looks wet, and I think I will spare the lights for next year.

Hey, how do you guys get those large pictures? Whenever I attach or link a photo I always get a thumbnail

joeyduck 12-19-14 02:04 PM

I went by a woman with Christmas lights the other day. I didn't even see them until we were even.

I think they were dim enough to but be a bother.

That will be for next year for me.

If you use the little 'Insert Image' button in the bikeforums comment editor, you get the thumbnail.

But if you have sufficient internet-fu, you can embed links to externally-hosted images (like at photobucket etc) into the text of your comment, and then you can control more how they display.

Photobucket reduces the quality now. I suggest a site like www.imgur.com for photo hosting. Been using it for a while now and it is simple, like what Photobucket used to be. Make a free account, upload the picture, and copy and paste the BB code to your post. Done.
