It's fast because the basket is perforated, very aero.

@RubeRad @the sci guy I mean, it's my fastest bike I have compared to my bmx, non-suspension mountain bike and folding bike because it is the lightest and has thin tires, but ofcourse not as fast as racing road bikes and carbon bikes.

My new commuter bike
Motobecane Century Elite Ti Disc with Burly Travoy trailer.
Sporting a Fly 6 rear camera, Rideye Front camera, NoName really bright LED light. Planet Bike Siperflash. Tubus rack. SKS fenders
Ortlieb QL3 mount Downtown and Office bags, Garmin 520 (no need, but what the heck) and perhaps most importantly an REI coffee mug.

I don't usually use the trailer, but I had packages to mail.

Just rebuilt 1987 Schwinn Cimarron for commute and occasional CX duties. It is now sporting drop bar conversion.

Schwinn Discover. I commute via train for 40 miles. I ride 10 miles to and from home to train station, and 4 miles to and from train in L.A. area. Car less commute in So. Cal.
Getting a new Diamondback Century 1. The Schwinn keeps breaking spokes. I want to start riding more, so I am upgrading my ride. Lots of biking in south Orange County.

If you are a heavier rider (200+ pounds) you might be too much for those lower-spoke wheels, particularly as they are laced with an eye-catching, but not traditional/strong pattern. Consider replacing with a strong 3x rear wheel, and you shouldn't need a whole new bike (unless you want a whole new bike, there's nothing wrong with that)

OK, separate threads for "post your bike with geese" and "post your bike with ducks"... excellent.

"Post your bike with various waterfowl" I think would do it.

Tx for the tip Rube.
I started out @ 204lbs........Now @ 183, mostly because of the bike.
I am an ex runner. Never spent much time on the bike.
I'm really enjoying it. I wanted a better bike so I could do longer rides on the weekend.
A carless commute has been very liberating for this 60yr old from the OC.

Great work! 183 is not too bad for any decent wheel, but a lot of wheels are made for the race-centric/weight-weenie crowd, and it seems the average weight of those kind of guys is like 150 or something! Look into learning to true/tension your own wheels, and you can hopefully avoid the cost/hassle of having to take it into a shop all the time.

Except on the really windy days that we've been having here, it's become my favorite bike to ride to work. 20 MPH + headwinds aren't much fun on this bike!

The nickel plate looks awesome! If I thought I could take a s/s up my hill, that's the one I would get.
