Got my bike back from the shop installing my fenders/rack. Giant brand Defy specific fenders with a Planet Bike Eco-Rack. The fenders are barely noticeable, both while stationary and when moving. Rear one rattles a little over bumps but no rubbing so I'm not concerned!

I've made my commuting bike, including the frame and fork, to have exactly fit my geometry.

Truthfully, I like it a lot. I am a weekend rider, casual riding mostly with the kids. I replaced a Nexus 8 speed and thought I would need new spokes because the SRAM looks significantly smaller but it fit perfectly. On 700c wheels it shifts "for me" at a pretty good place and seems to do well. On my Raleigh Detour I have an Alfine internal hub and found myself usually in 1 or 2 gears so I thought the Automatix would be pretty suitable for my needs, turns out I was right. Trick is now, I have no wires. I am using only the coaster brake which I know many feel it is unsafe alone. I grew up on bikes with only coaster brakes, as I am sure a lot of people here did as well. With the amount of riding I do, I feel very comfortable with it.

Down shifting seems pretty legit, when I press and hold the brakes it shifts down and of course when you stop completely. I haven't noticed it down shifting too much when I naturally show beyond the point they kicked in to begin with, but honestly I haven't been looking for it. I'd place the gearing around starting gear same as 3 or 4 on the Alfine or Nexus and around 7 in second gear. I haven't went any places to really show off the bike so I can't speak on attention if that is something someone is looking for.

I still have some minor work to do to the bike like replacing the nuts with Pinheads and working in a better chain. The combo I am running seems to really dislike master links so I am going to do an entire chain without a master link, probably next weekend. Right now I am running a 1/8", I originally had a YBN but now am running a KMC, I am going to go back to the YBN because it was much quieter.

Well, that is all I can think of right now. Oh, the SRAM comes at 19T, it will accept others but that is what it ships with. Right now I am running 19T and 45T, maybe I am doing something wrong and that is why my chain feels weird, could use some advice there. Thanks.

One more updated pic of the Klunker Commuter Huffy. I got another cruiser for free and it had some really nice blue rims and better hubs and thicker spokes. I did a wheel swap and got new 26x 2.125 cruiser tires and tubes installed. I am finally done with this build and loving it..............

The blue is bling, goes great with the color scheme you already had going on! Are those wider tires too? Almost looks Plus...

@greg1174, it might be that, since changing your rear hub, your chain line is not straight. Measure the distance between the cog and the center line of the bike and between the chainring and the center line of the bike.

Thank you for that idea, I will definitely check it. Truth is, I ran through a couple of crank sets before settling on one. The original one that I had on there worked just fine but was 42t and a different chain. It had dual chain guards but it rubbed occasionally and I didn't like the noise so I went with a single chain guard. There is far less rubbing but now a clicking which seems to coincide with the master link rotation. I will definitely check the space though, thank you.

And the solution to a bad chainline, is a bottom bracket that is longer or shorter by the appropriate amount. Whatever your correction is, remember to double it, because the spindle sticks out to both sides. So for instance, if your chainline is 5mm too far to the right, and your current bottom bracket spindle is 115, then you need to look for a 105 (or 104 or 106); a spindle which is 10mm shorter overall, will be 5mm shorter on each side.

Yes. The new rims are wider and I installed brand new 26x2.125 cruiser tires on it. Rolls over anything!

That's one way, though there are limitations, and it is often more effective to do the adjustment at the hub, removing spacers from one end of the axle and replacing them at the other end. It requires re-dishing the wheel.
