I ordered a J & G windbreaker. Does anyone have any experience with them? I know its not a full bore rain jacket but I just wanted a nice windbreaker that would repel light rain if needed. They look pretty good on the site with big pit zips so I'm hoping its a keeper

It's not going to do too much for you rain-wise, unless you're talking about VERY light rain, like mist--a soft shell would keep you much more dry. It's a thin, baggy windbreaker that you can stuff into its pocket. It does the job as a windbreaker and seems well-made. Personally, I would probably not buy it again and would go for something more form fitting. It has a lot of fans on this board, however.

I have a J&G vented rain jacket, and it's the best cycling equipment I ever bought. I've worn it every day there was significant rain, and every day it was colder than about 45*F, for 3 years now, and it still shows no wear. It can be raining like heck and I don't care at all.
I was thinking about getting some of their rain pants, but I don't really care if my legs get wet, I just wear running pants and let them get wet.

It's great for summertime showers too...it may not keep you dry, but the wet material acts like a swamp cooler in the wind, keeping you cool, rather than hot and sweaty like a rain jacket.
If I had to have only one jacket for all cycling uses, this would be it, but if you are looking for a rain jacket, get a rain jacket. FYI, the combo of the wind jacket and a rain cape works well too.

My only quibble is the lack of color options. Would like light blue, etc. as the yellow is a tad much. I understand the visability factor, so it's a 'style' thing for me. Get the jacket a size larger than you wear in other clothing as having the extra room for laying helps alot in cold/wet weather.
Also, gaiters w/neoprene shoe covers and neoprene gloves allow ones extremities to hold heat while wet. A 'baseball cap', adjustable visor helps in keeping the rain from striking goggles and allows heat to escape from the head if needed.

I've got the Wind Jacket and a full rain set. The rain set I only use if it's raining steady. It's waterproof so it's not the most comfortable thing in the world (especially the sleeves). Fortunately it only rains between January and March here so I don't need the rain set all the time.
The wind jacket is not very rain-proof but will handle mist or light rain pretty well. I LOVE the wind jacket. The 18" pit zips are the bomb.

Sounds like it will do just what I want it to do a wind breaker to take on cool rides in the morning such as going to work and then have it in the pack for the evening during the spring and fall. My Burley is way too heavy above about 45 degrees. I really don't care if its flappy at all since I'm not a speed demon or racing roadie type

Off the subject. I purchased they're shoe covers. The first time I wore them in the rain they leaked. I was disappointed. Before that I wore Louis Garneau StopTech shoe covers and they leak too. Either one, not a whole lot mind you. But they did let the water in. I wonder how the Showers Pass Shoe covers do?

I am a big fan of their shorts, I'm waiting on my 2nd pair from them right now. Good quality, very friendly when you talk to them, fast response to emails and phone calls. Can't go to wrong with them.

Thought that was him...grew up in NE Ohio and Ghoulardi was a significant part of my Friday nights. My fav was when he would superimpose himself onscreen w/the people in the Dr. Cyclops movie and chase all the young women around. A complete original though he did borrow alot of his delivery from Lord Buckley, but who's quibbling. He was the best thing to ever come out of Cleveland. My parent's hated him which cemented in my mind he was a good thing. "Oh, there's a Ka-nock on the phone...who IS this?...Dorthy?...Dorthy who?...DORTHY Fuldheim?...and what do YOU do?" Classic stuff.

How does the J&G breathable rain jacket compare with the various Showers Pass jackets? I need to get a rain jacket that is very breathable because most jackets make me sweat too much. The SP jackets get a lot of recommendations but seem heavier and bulkier than I prefer.

Should get the J+G today if the shipping times are right. Gonna take a ride after work so I'll see how it its and report back on its wind resistance. I really love my Burley but as I wrote its really overkill above about 45 degrees, unless of course its really raining hard

I have the vented Waterproof breathable Rain Jacket and helmet cover from J&G
works fine, if you work up a sweat youll be damp inside but all in all its a well designed bike specific piece of clothing.
Its not great for off the bike (looks a tad goofy )as the front is very very short so its not in the way when your peddaling and the tail is longer (thats what ya want on the bike)
I bought it for riding!
yes j&G very good.

Got the windbreaker today and went out for a ride this afternoon. The jacket is generously sized for sure but I really don't mind that but I could have ordered a medium and it still would have fit ok. It was getting pretty cool on the way back and the breeze was from the north which naturally is the way we were headed. The jacket works as advertised it did a really good job of keeping the wind out and I was wearing cotton underneath. I opened the pit zips slightly and when we got home I wasn't drenched although the cotton t shirt was a bit damp in places but not too bad at all. so it looks like I got a winner.
