Downtown D wasn't all that bad when I lived there. Jefferson ave, Woodward, Cass -- by WSU -- all the way up to Grand Grand River, were all pretty good. Michigan ave was mixed; it got a bit crummy once you got past Tiger Stadium. And, of course, I wouldn't have suggested anyone try walking up Brush St at midnight, but for the most part, it wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be.

This was years ago. Back when there were still real jobs to be found in the Motor City. Now, I hear all that there is available is a gig serving drinks inside some damned casino.

BTW: I should add, I last lived there in 1986.
