Avoiding "helmet head hair"?

So, anyone out there have a magic solution for avoiding those stripes you get in your hair from wearing your helmet? I know it sounds vain, but it's a pain after getting into work and then having to soak my hair to get them out. I'm fine in the winter when I wear a touque under my helmet, but it's too warm for that now. Is there a helmet out there that has nicer padding which prevents this? (btw - not wearing a helmet is not an option!)

Thanks!

cut your hair really short.

or....

stick your head under a sink when you get to where you are going and bring a small towel to dry off.

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

Short haircut. Or a beanie of some kind. Or stop at the sink to slap some water in there, knurl it around, and wipe dry with a paper towel.

Bikes: Cannondale Synapse '06, Mongoose titanium road bike '00--my commuter. Yes, Mongoose once made a decent ti road bike.

These 2 devices seem to work: 1) comb; 2) hair brush.

+1 on the Headsweats or a buzz cut, for the summer anyway.

I go with short hair, but not wearing a helmet also works.

Problems imply solutions.
Helmet is messing up hair - lose the helmet.

+1 i think mine was about $9usd before tax. Also, they are supposed to wick so may help with the humidity.

wear a bandanna over your head. it will look like hat hair but there won't be any strips from the vents. the other option is a buff. again like others said short hair and fix it at a sink. water and paper towels, then gel or a comb or hair dryer depending on how you style your hair.

i put gel in my hair just before i leave and either put helmet on or balacava on then helmet and go to work/school. lock up bike find a pathroom and run hands threw my hair to spike it or whatever. my hair looks styled naturaly. i don't spend more than 30secs a day on my hair. the perks of being a man.

I'm a middle school science teacher, which makes me an automatic dork anyway. Helmet-created furrows are just part of the program, so I don't really worry about it. If you are worried about your post-commute appearance, though, I suggest a haircut.

I was looking at the selection of head gear at REI - very impressive. I want a pirate do-rag. My local shop had WAYyyyy more than this link:
