How was the commute today? Continued.

I broke my clipless pedal, so I had to use it like a platform pedal =/ At least it's a road pedal and offers a big platform for my foot, but it was still annoying 20 miles today

warmer today so I took the usual commuter bike in. Not the winter bike. Means I used the Keen shoes instead of the big hiking/work boots too. Amazing how light that bike feels. I'm wondering what my road bike will feel like after a winter of grinding along on a tank.
Nice ride in though. Have been coming home via Cambridge lately due to other work at night that I'm doing in Cambridge. A lot more bicyclists in Cambridge.

28F for me this morning, with a nice tailwind. A bit more powder on the ground than yesterday. It snows at night, then melts off for the ride home. Weird winter, not that I'm complaining.

Nice ride in this morning after a tough, crazy commute yesterday. The wind died down after blowing both ways yesterday. Crazy drivers tried to run me over twice yesterday. In the morning, I guy blew a red light on a major intersection, but fortunately I was alert and saw him coming. That intersection has a red-light camera, so he should get a ticket in the mail very soon. On the way home, a woman right-hooked me on a side street with little traffic. I cannot believe she didn't see me with my fluorescent yellow jersey and 3 tail-lights, but probably misjudged my speed. I didn't even see her coming and reacted instinctively when all of the sudden there was a car beside me, turning in my path. I had to turn into the parking lot avoid hitting her, and she finally stopped. Then, as I was looping around to get back on the street, another car turned into the lot, almost hitting me. You gotta be vigilant.

Cold, about 15f, but no wind and blaiing sun. THe snow tires slow me up a bit on the pavement, but I was making pretty good time till I reached the bike path part of the route. I thought it was tough yesterday, but warmer temps yesterday, and a lot of foot traffic froze solid into teeth jarring ruts with 1 foot of snow on ach side.
Too bad that all these politician types who promise to change the world can't quite keep a bike path plowed.

Burlington (VT) talks up the "Bicycle Friendly City" thing, but they can't plow 7 miles of bike path. They plow sidewalks. Hundreds of miles of them. The bike path falls under parks & rec. No budget for plowing, don't ya know.

50F, Cloudy, but quite nice and I'm enjoying it while I can. After a week of sun we're headed into another week of rain, not that it will keep me from riding. This morning was an excellent ride, and quicker than normal. Avg 21mph on the straights, 23mph top speed. I'm usually hanging out around 18mph average, 20mph top.

Pushing 60F holy cow. Met up with my wife at her office to ride over to the preschool, took our daughter to DQ for a blizzard she could finish in the trailer on the way home. When she finished it, she tucked it into a side pocket and sacked out for a nap the rest of the way home.

good commuting day. rode the bike to a Zipcar location and zipped a car down to RI for a spontaneous family visit. Shot back and dropped off the car. Hopped on the bike, rode the mile back home and then rode on over to Cambridge for work tonight. Looooooove that Zipcar!

Very nice ride. A coworker and I have the same commute for about 4 miles of a 6.5 mile commute, so we rode together. Very nice day. Here in Fresno, the weather is very springlike. It was around 52F when we left, but a bit windy. Nooo traffic. All in all, awesome ride (and I'm slowly getting my time down!).
I noticed when riding with someone else though I coast waaay too much. Gotta break that habit...

My camera broke grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Well I have 4 work commutes left or roughly 80 more miles this week. I am scared all the snow birds are here, and I almost got taken by a handicap driver who missed right hooking me by my emergency rock dodge on her ass. Its crazy I saw 3 cars all cross traffic in front of me blow stop signs and 4 people run red lights. This of course negates the fact I veered right into the parking section to avoid a drunk who overook and proceeded to drive in the bike lane.
In about week my commute will be to the food store. At least it will be huge at 8 mi. The trailer back for 8 miles

I go from Urban ubaina to rural not so more two lane wonder. I am guessing when I finally do get a job, it will be no less 13 mi. one way. (to the bus system).
Camera back on for the final week.

Commute was pretty decent today. It was a nice mild temperature outside (somewhere around -10 to -15 Celcius) with clear skies (which made for a beautiful scene at one point... nice moon, stars, water... it was really something). Had wind opposing me on the way to work, so that and hills made for more effort than usual. However, the wind had either died out, or was going my way when I was going home. I think it must have snowed some... or maybe it was just drifting because I came to a patch of snow on one of the trails that I gave up pedaling through and just walked through. Overall, I can't complain, because the nice ride home made up for the difficult ride to work.

24F and no wind. The MUP is back to nearly 100% bare pavement, so I'm hoping for a little snow for my poor studded tires. Later this week, perhaps. The MUP is not plowed. This is the first time it has been so clear before April in the 5 or 6 years that I've been commuting on it.

back after 10 day vacation where I got zero bike time and pretty much did noting but eat.
I left late and felt slow as heck, so I pushed myself and got to the train station a minute early! Nothing like having a train to catch to make yourself push.
I rock my studdeds right through the season-- they seem to be holding up fine!

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.
Some guy in the train station walked right into my folding bike. He looked at me and said, "What's your problem?" as if it were my fault. Idiot.

EKW in DC,
We have the same commute and I've been off of the bike since "snowmageddon", what's your new route? The MV Trail gets short shrift even though it's an increasingly used commuter corridor. Although the NPS has been very responsive about issues I've brought to the in the past (tacks on the trail), they insist that they don't yet have money in the budget to plow/treat the trail but may be able to someday. In the meantime we have to just suck it up. This is my 3rd week on the Metro and I hate it too, in fact, this has been the longest stretch that I've been off of the bike in the 7 or so years as a cycle commuter. I'm feeling fat and lazy but hope to catch a glimpse of the trail today on my ride home. I cannot envision a safe alternative to the MV Trail though, if you've discovered one I like to know.

Beautiful day today. We've been having "indian spring" this past week. Today was 14C (57F) and sunshine. Got off work at 3:30pm and rode the long way home. Got home just after 6pm. 82.7km (51.4 miles) for the day.
