I lucked out and got home between periods of rain, and with a sweet tailwind. The air was raw though. Hardly anyone was out.

A friend of mine was complaining about the horrible traffic on the drive home. I said I knew what he meant. I had to slow down for 10 seconds because of a couple of runners on the MUP, and it ruined my whole weekend!

Great ride home today, sunny, pushing 70F. Picked up our 5 yr old on the trail-a-bike and brought her to DQ and then home to work in the garden of our 8 yr old's school.

Had a great week of bikes commuting. Had a little rain but lots of sunshine. The ride home Friday was a little testy with the heavy head wind with gusts over 30 mph. It was a little tough to hold the bike upright at times.

It was a chilly spring morning at 2 C (36 F). Lots of twigs and small brances on the side of the road from the wind yesterday and Saturday. Other than that it was uneventful ride.

Nice ride this morning. 40F, no wind. Stopped and talked with bmike for a minute, then continued. I was full of energy. Passed a guy riding a bike with big bags on the back, then spotted a cyclist far, far ahead. I caught him about 2 miles later, and passed. Later, he came up next to me at a red light and we exchanged hellos. I let him go first, since my office was a block away.

Awsome commute in this morning, nice and clear and just a little cool. Saw a young buck making his way to the river for a drink, he still had one antler on his head. I wanted to ride over and grab it off his head because I have yet to find any sheds this year. Ride home through the park should be great this afternoon.....79F if the weatherman is on his A game.

Rode my clipper ship of comfort today... strange how a few minor adjustments can change how a bike rides... it's not a fast bike, but it seems to be rather indestructible and very plush. Actually this is my first ride in about a month due to illness, allergies and sloth, but felt good. I'm committed to commuting the next couple weeks to prep for 5BBT. So rain or shine, wind or calm, if I'm going to work that day, I'll be riding.
That said, I hope the gusty headwind of this AM sticks around for the afternoon ride home so that I can enjoy it as a tailwind, but alas, my luck is never that good.

Lovely!

17 miles in 67 minutes as the sun came up. Cool temps near 40F made things crisp. Little traffic made for a carefree ride.

45 degrees when I left the house this morning at 6:00 am, my fingers and toes got a bit cold but otherwise it was a great ride. 19.72 miles in 78 minutes.

Wonderful ride this AM. Cool, crisp air. My regular commute route is pretty flat, so I altered it a little to climb a couple bigger hills near me on the way in to spice things up a little and help improve my climbing (for likely summer touring) and my fitness generally... Painful, but rewarding.

50F, 5 yr old in trailer. Dry enough that I didn't wear tights; I've been wearing them even past whatever my temp threshold is just to keep the mud off my legs. Also 1st am commute w/ fingerless gloves.

Avg speed uphill to work about the same as w/ trail-a-bike. But she really helped, Friday, on the t-a-b, w/ that last climb to the house at the end of the day.

Same here, but it was from Saturdays fun.

But, there is a spring in my step as I finally got the plate number of the Jeep that has been worrying me. If he wasn't blowing by me at 40-50, 1 foot or less from me in a residential area, he was tailgating the car ahead of him. When tailgating, he would be as far right as possible, and even moving left so as not to hit parked cars. Vehicle don't worry me, as a rule. I know the danger of what a bicycle commute may entail, but this person had me thinking of taking a new route.

In a way more better mood now.

In addition to my normal commute I cycled to a business meeting this morning. It was an easy 7+ mile roundtrip with temps in the low 60's with no wind. It was wonderful.

When I got back my boss said "You rode your bike to the meeting?" Yeah, I did. :-)

Oh, man! What great weather for a ride. Drivers were mellow, too.

I woke up with a sore back and a huge case of drowsiness. I missed the bus and once I walked the dog and felt the weather, I simply didn't care. :-D After my commute in, I'm awake and feeling much more limber.

My new handlebars I've been talking about have been installed and they are soooo much better on my wrist. After a couple of rides, I'm feeling so much better that I took the "Away - Injury" status off of my bikejournal.com account. (Now I just need to work my endurance back up...)

I'm baaaaa-aaaaaack!

Commute felt very slow this morning...legs just felt achy and heavy. I used today to time myself (I don't pay much attention to the bike computer anymore) to see how much faster I get on my commute over the next several months. I forget the exact time, but my avg mph was 17.99 - not great, not terrible (about 13.7 miles, only a couple small hills, start is .5 miles downhill). Goal is to hit 20 sometime this year.

Didn't ride home - rode to a nearby HS to watch daughter swim. Wife met me there, so I took the lazy way home!

Easy cruise in this morning... And a relaxed ride on the way home. Headwind/tailwind split both to and from work!

Shimano EZ-Fire left lever gave up the ghost. Tiny little spring that engages the pawl after an upshift is busted... good thing it busted on the middle ring. To be honest, I dunno if it's the shifter or the derailleur, but shifting up front has never been right, despite all of my tweaking. I was already looking to swap out the FD, now I might start with a new shifter, and see if that fixes things. Clear, cool day otherwise.

It was a decent ride in, at 4 C ( 40 F). I was late today, but not by much, and in the dark morning, late is realtive. My dog was daydreaming upstairs when she realized that I was leaving. She dashed downstairs and almost took me out to get her goodbye pet and kiss. I forgot my helmet in the process, and got about 1/2 a mile when I couldn't grab my mirror, and figured out why. I went back and had to go through the petting and kissing stuff all over again.
At least I got a taste of the morning twilight, although I can do without the increased amount of car drivers at that time.

Commute was lovely this morning until an older man almost hit me *twice.* I don't think he saw me at all. He was too busy looking for parking in his POS old car.

First he did an illegal U-turn in front of me. I had enough time to say "oh great, he's turning" and slam on my brakes. Half a block later, when he finally maneuvered back out of the bike lane and into the right car lane, I thought it was safe to pass since, ya know, I was in a BIKE LANE and going considerably faster than him. He proceeded to swerve suddenly to the right, without looking or a turn signal, back into the bike lane. I only had time to yell "HEY!!!" (and some expletives). Thankfully he appeared to be only blind, not deaf. It was a close call though. I was thinking this would be the time a car actually hit me.

That's a minute better than my best on my 17 mile commute. Well done!

We have a rare occurrence here in North Texas today: NO WIND! I'm lovin' it. Rain from the weekend, though, means the low water crossings are flooded so I have to take an alternate route. Yesterday morning I didn't have any trouble crossing but by the afternoon two crossings were flooded and I ended up riding several miles out of my way to get home. At least the weather was nice.

Fantastic ride this morning.

13.5 km of nice pavement along a MUP, nice uphill sections followed by nice downhill sections. No cars to watch out for. 35 minutes, avg 23km/h.
