Typical spring weather - 70 and sunny yesterday 45 and rainy today! :-) Horrible headwind. National Weather Service site says 22 mph w/ gusts to 30 - which drove the rain into my face. Big suck... for a bike ride, that is. Still the best way to get to work!

Leaving for a week-long vacation Monday, so won't be commuting until April 7. Bummed about that, but not bummed about not coming to work!!!

40F with a nice tail wind this morning. I was able to reach 26mph which is one mile per hour over the speed limit. Snow and ice on the way home but very short lived. Also, I was pleased with the lack of head wind I had anticipated.

No commute today. Have had to burn off 170+ vac hours (or lose them). Every other week off since Feb1. Nice weather for most of it & lots of rec riding in. Today rain shower turned to snow & 20+mph wind with gust to 35. Stay indoors? Nah, my in-law's outdoor shower needed to be disassembled & carted away. Broke it all down, strapped to the roof of my 15 yr old Camry wagon took it to the dump. While working out in the snow I'm thinking about how much I actually enjoy riding in this stuff.

Well the ride home wasn't so bad. It was in the upper 20sF. I had an annoying 15-20MPH headwind and just didn't feel like abusing myself. I swore I'd relax and use whatever gear was easiest. Most of the time I was pedaling along around 14 to 15MPH. If the wind got bad, maybe I dropped to 12 or 13. My eyes were tearing up a lot, with the wind. Unusual.

The MUP was largely empty. One cyclist was heading the other way and we each returned a hello.

Bikes: Two wheels, it goes

The commute tonight rocked! It was a bit chilly with the wind, but it was dry! I was looking out of the windows all day during work watching the rain and snow (yes, snow) come down sighing and stomping my feet. However, by the time I got home and rode to my other job, it was wonderful!

I also use my trunk bag for the first time and found it fits a 6-pack of cans perfectly! Good to know

36 this morning, my first commute to work on a Saturday and the first time my feet got cold. Great ride otherwise.

As cold this morning as yesterday morning..around -6C but fortuanatly no wind. Second time in a row my water bottle froze and couldn't get a drink towards the end of my ride. Looks like the last of the cold weather though since next week it'll be above freezing all week!

A misty, foggy, warm ride at 10 C ( 50 F). Today and tomorrow are suposed to be less than OK, but the rest of the week is going to be warm, bordering on hot. It is starting early this year with the warmer weather, and the sword of damocles is no longer above us.

commuted in on a 25+ yr old Huffy just for the hell of it. It was interesting to say the least. Managed the 8 miles with no mechanical failures, but I was certainly expecting one.

39F in light rain. Not bad though. A couple of squirrels played games of chicken with my front tire.

Had the flu all weekend so I got lazy this morning. Had my partner drop me off part of the way in and rode the remaining 4 miles. It actually felt fine and I wished I'd just ridden the whole way. It was supposed to be pouring this morning (according to the weather guy) but it was quite dry out and in the high 40s or so. A t-shirt with a rain jacket over it was plenty warm enough.

Wet and windy today, but i made great time and had a blast. 51F with light rain and winds from the S @ 13mph. I'm dry now that i changed my clothes. The only minor issue is my shoes, so next time i'm going to bring a change of those as well. Right now i've got plastic bags on my feet so my dry socks don't get wet. Hopefully my rain gear that i ordered about 2 weeks ago will be waiting for me at home when i get back this afternoon.

I left earlier than usual this morning, about 5:30 ish, and managed to stay dry. I must have ridden in between downpours, which was nice, for a change. It rained cats and dogs last night and, I could see ominous black clouds over DC on my approach, my wife confirmed that it started raining shortly after I got to work. There had been some minor flooding of 4 Mile Run as there was some debris blocking the path under the Rt. 1 bridge, but nothing beyond that. Gotta change out both fr. and rr. tires and brake pads as part of my normal maintenence, as well as bar tape, and, will remove fenders come May-this is part of my Spring/Summer preparation. Hopefully it'll be a nice ride home.

Plastic bags can't be pleasant. How long is your commute? Barring surprises, I generally get from door to door in under half an hour. I have MKS Touring pedals on my commuter (no cleats, no clips/straps, often wrongly called "platform" pedals), and they enable me to do things like wear plastic clogs and wool hiking socks on rainy days. It works surprisingly well. Even when I add time to my rainy-day rides by running errands, my feet remain comfortable.

My commute is 19.1 miles and i made it in 1hr and 13min this morning. Surprisingly the bags are still keeping my feet dry throughout this day even though my shoes are currently soaked. I may have to try what you're doing.

Drove today as I had some errands to run and it was raining cats and dogs when I got up. The weather is supposed to be great the rest of the week, so should be back on the bike tomorrow.

Very rainy, heavy downpours, and through a flooded street. Had to hop the curb, bike up onto a raised grassy field, around
a drawbridge area that was covered with 1-1.5 feet of water.

Got to work drenched. Loved it.

About to do it in reverse but without so much rain.

ciao!

Todays commute was hopefully a turning point in the weather. As in the last day before the weather breaks and starts that warming trend toward Spring and Summer. Boy, those two words sound good. No chilly rain to ride in this morning when I rode in. Just missed it. And a nice brisk 47f in the aftn. Tom’rw is supposed to be 10 degrees warmer and just get better and better as the week progresses. Till we’re supposed to hit a high of 77f on Friday. I’ll have to dig out the suntan lotion. You can always tell a bike commuter. They’re the first ones to get a tan.

More rain and a lot of standing water on the roads during the commute home. 52F with rain and winds from the S @ 7mph. I came home to see that my rain gear finally came in. This should make the rainy commutes a lot more pleasant. Now all i gotta do is figure out what i'm gonna do about my feet.

The wind held me back big time on the way home tonight. I averaged 5.3mph into the 35mph wind gusts. I had to drink 2 diet cokes just to get the dust out of my mouth.

Chilly this morning at 3 C ( 38 F). Swirling wind made everything a little more interesting. I never knew when or where I was going to get hit or aided.
After today, it is supposed to warm up, so just a windy rainy afternoon, then back to a warm tomorrow afternoon.
