Last time I took Cheri bike shopping, I test rode a folder just for the heck of it. She started laughing so hard she about fell on the floor. She said all she could picture was me riding that bike in either a Shriner's hat or a clown outfit.

My wife says I look like a circus bear riding my foldies but happily takes my best foldie when I ride with her on weekends.

These days I look like a circus bear with a yellow hi-vis vest and a mirror-mounted helmet. It is not a pretty sight but I loves me foldies! Hahaha!

Funny, a couple of years ago new bikes like these were hard to find in the US. Just goes to show that perhaps there is a market for more than just sport/racing bikes.
When I started looking for a bike 3 1/2 years ago, I couldn't find anything but mountain bikes and road bikes. I kept thinking I wanted something different, but didn't find anything close to these then. I kept thinking I wanted something like my (English) Grandfather's English three speed but with a few more gears, and probably would have thought "that's it" if I would have seen any of these bikes then.
