Inexpensive, simple, commuter bike thread

How about we use this thread to post our finds for new, inexpensive bikes that already include some of the nice-to-have things for commuting (racks, fenders, etc.) Under $700 perhaps?

Funny, a couple of years ago new bikes like these were hard to find in the US. Just goes to show that perhaps there is a market for more than just sport/racing bikes.

I really like that. And I've been trying to convince my father-in-law that this is just the kind of bike he needs. He is convinced that he needs a hybrid with lots of gears "for longer rides." I can't seem to convince him that more gears don't make you go farther.

I would totally ride this bike. It looks really nice. I might throw a fixed hub on it, maybe not.

No worries...I posted Schwinns early on.
I don't care what brand a bike is or who sells it...if it works it works.

It's really lovely to see the proliferation of useful bikes. I was in the bike business from 1978 through 1984, and it was nearly impossible to buy these. You had to buy a road bike and change a whole lot of parts.

I'm guessing these bikes come with pedals and kickstands, too.
