No big-box store models please - just the good ones! Oh, just road bikes too, that are available in different sizes etc. I like the brand, so sue me. :-)

I love my 2007 World DBX. They stopped making them, though.

I got mine from Performance on clearence. Last one they had, I believe. $700 shipped. Haven't had one problem with it.

I picked up a Schwinn Le Tour GS at Performance for $500 last year. It is a Sora/Tiagra equipped 8 speed triple with an aluminum frame and CF forks. Only things I didn't like about it were the chain (replaced it with a SRAM PC-870) and FD (replaced it with Sora as it came with something less than that). Everything else worked flawlessly and it has been a great bike. I turned it into a commuter at the end of last year when I bought a better road bike and it has worked great for that as well.
As with most road bikes, the easiest way to shop is to look at frame material and component group. My Le Tour GS is entry-level and a good solid bike. There are some nice full CF Schwinns at the other end of the line. Really depends on how much you are wanting to spend.
