Thanks,
I had to take the Ekynox SX because my prescription is so weird. . .they said they couldn't really put my RX into lenses for the other models. I might have chosen a different style but they're fine. . .They give me the wind-block that you get from wrap-arounds and that's more important to me than anything else. . .

although safety gogles that fit over regular glasses may be economical, I can't imagine wearing them in the rain. . .too bulky, no way they're going vent well enough. . . .maybe they work for some folks but I'll pay the price for RX glasses. . . .they're not cheap but I didn't really have any alternative. . .and once i got my first pair there was no going back to regular glasses ever. . .

My glasses get wet and fogged and I can barely see, same as the motorists.

Seems fair to me.

Thanks,
I have used $5 shop glasses that fit over my regular glasses. They're like a windshield that absorbs the mist from the outside. It's easier to see through the mist with clean glasses inside, and not as big a deal if I rub a glove over the lens to remove most of the mist and wind up leaving some smudge behind. The biggest negative is the potential for not one but 2 layers of fog from the inside, but I don't get near that point til toward the end of my ride anyway.

If you are looking to stop drops of water look into Nikon Ice Coating. It will make the drops of water roll off of it like rain-x.

I've seen this method used in videos of Copenhagen and Amsterdam commuters...

Same. I have to sometimes forgo riding, glasses get completely coated in rain water, I can't see ****. I don't trust my dodgy defective eyesight enough to ride sans glasses, running yes, riding no. I tried the contact route, didn't work for me. Le sigh.

Vancouverite here too. November 2009 proved to be a washout. Almost daily rain. Have no problem riding in the rain during the day with my prescription glasses. I can see through droplets fine, if I can avoid wiping it down. I rode for 3 hours with pissing rain on me, didn't wipe my glasses once, and I was fine. It's amazing how one's mind adjusts and sees through the rain droplets. But that's during the day. Unfortunately on weekdays, I can put in mileage only at night. And that's where my problem is. On streets with high street lights, it's fine. On streets like Cypress or W. 10th, where it's really dark and the lamp posts are low, the glare from these lights are right in my eyes and are compounded by the droplets on my glasses. It's almost a requirement to reaaaaally slow down, even when you "think" the streets are empty. Plan B is taking different routes at night. And I can't wear contacts, my eyes reacted so badly to them when I tried them a few years ago. Oh well, it is what it is on the Wet Coast.
