Messenger backpacks
Anybody know of any manufacturer besides Chrome? Looking for the shape of a mess bag, but has two straps. I have the Banjo Brothers Large backpack. That thing holds a ton, but I'm getting tired of removing part of the contents to get the bottom.
BTW, firefox w/adblock users: I'm posting this w/Chrome (normally use Firefox) and the lead banner on this page is for a 4 day sale, 20% off everything, code: chrome4day.

I had a ReLoad and think the Chrome is much more comfortable and better built, plus a lot less expensive. The new Mission Workshop bag looks interesting.

Not bad, but for that kind of money, I might as well get a Chrome (if I had it to spend). But what I'm looking for is a bag where the dimensions have more horizontal and less vertical.

I purchased a Chrome Metro but returned it and ordered a Bailey Works bag which I'm still waiting on; Bailey Works is behind with their orders these days.
Chrome bags are outstanding but I needed a messenger bag that was also comfortable for general commuting while walking and the Chrome seems better suited for bike commuting mostly. I also purchased an Ortlieb Sling-It medium which is very nice also; I got it in the REI clearence area for like $55. I was trying to decide between the Bailey Works and the Ortlieb then decided I'd keep both since the Ortlieb medium is like 700+ cu. in., and the Bailey medium is 1536 cu. in. I also like that the Bailey Works bag has a shoulder strap that can be changed for left or right use. The only thing I'm thinking is that I should have gotten the small Bailey Works bag but I'll see soon enough if the size is right.

I love my sealLine backpack. It is lightweight, waterproof and super comfortable. I have commuted for a year and a half 20 miles roundtrip in Portland's rain with this pack. I once carried a laptop, a few textbooks and a chihuahua home in it...and mine is the small size.

I tried an Ortlieb, but hated the strap. I also didn't like the fact that you couldn't 'overfill' it;on normal mess bags you can pack things over the top and just legthen the straps,or even just stuff things under the flap against the front of the bag. Can't do that with the Ortlieb's fold over flap and velcro-only closure. I have a med Bailey, and it holds a ton of stuff. Enough to haul groceries with. You'll appriciate the capacity if you ever need to carry alot.

Timbuk2 Outtawhack pack or consider the Crumpler brand. You can find the crumpler bags on www.backcountry.com for a good price.

Got their Large Backpack. Thing holds a tonna stuff. But it's a little too vertical for me, read have to unload half the contents to get to something on the bottom.
