How far is your commute one way?

I'm surprised this isnt a sticky thread...

My commute is probably on the shorter side at 3.75 miles....

sseaman 05-07-10 07:33 AM

14miles from my daughters school, 18.5 from the house.

ajames15 05-07-10 07:43 AM

Door to door for me is 3.58 miles

Keithmj 05-07-10 07:43 AM

My Commute.

For me it is just 6.9 miles. Not very much but have a lot of traffic and construction to deal with at this time. Takes 36 to 43 minutes not pushing it. :D

colleen c 05-07-10 07:48 AM

7 miles one way by bike, plus another 25 miles by train one way.

scroca 05-07-10 07:49 AM

9.75 miles. Usually, a couple of times a week I go longer just because.

mlugo 05-07-10 08:03 AM

10 miles.

Standalone 05-07-10 08:05 AM

3.5 miles + 20 minute train ride + 1.5 miles one way = 5 miles.

Or about 16 miles o/w without the train.

jefmcg 05-07-10 08:08 AM

40 km round trip (still experiment with routes: varies between 19.? and 21.? each way)

livin4eternity 05-07-10 08:15 AM

9 miles on bike, 27 by car... one way.

I'll be increasing the biking part & reducing the car commute when it gets lighter in the mornings & my legs get stronger.

Doohickie 05-07-10 08:17 AM

about 16 miles each way. (no bike computer so it's a wag based on bikely.com)

JPprivate 05-07-10 08:18 AM

7.3 miles

mtalinm 05-07-10 08:19 AM

12.5 - 15 each way, depending on route

truman 05-07-10 08:24 AM

10 mile bike, 12 miles train, 1 mile bike.

Reverse in the evening.

TrekFix 05-07-10 08:41 AM

14.5 miles. It would be shorter but I like to take lower traffic roads so, I go a little out of my way.

shubonker 05-07-10 08:46 AM

11 miles, however i wish it was 5 or something nice and short.

atmdad 05-07-10 08:54 AM

Careful what you wish for... For about a year I lived about 2 miles from work, long enough I didn't wan't to necessarily walk everyday, but really more of a nuisance to ride.
Personal factors such as sweating, hills, etc factor in... But for two miles I still needed to wear different clothes, get my bike out and then just about the time I was warm in the winter or sweating in the summer I was at work.
Ride longer you say, I just never made it happen.

Current route is a tad over 7 and most mornings I wish it was a bit longer. Keep riding, or go into work.

augustgarage 05-07-10 08:59 AM

Anywhere from 16.21 (subway) - 29.44 (no subway) miles each way depending on the route I take...

hakuyu 05-07-10 09:00 AM

19 to and 20.5 back.....to avoid a wicked steep hill....by the end of the week, I'm wishing for a shorter ride as well.

sm1960 05-07-10 09:03 AM

13 miles thru hilly central Mass. I like atmdad's ride, nice ocean breeze. I was stationed there in the early 80's.

Leebo 05-07-10 09:06 AM

18 miles one way. Takes an hour by car, 1.25 by bike, for good weather and such. 2-6 trips per week, work schedule allowing. Pretty flat and half by bike path. Yes in the Boston area.

pathdoc 05-07-10 09:06 AM

5 miles. One small hill about midway. I get up out the saddle and sprint up for a little interval training. I know it isn't much but hopefully overtime I'll gain some benefit from riding these base miles.

Blues Frog 05-07-10 09:12 AM

I can do 4, the usual 5 or 7 miles to work with my current routes worked out. W N

rando 05-07-10 09:14 AM

6 miles
