I don't own a car (by choice) , so I commute on a bicycle most of the time, sometimes I take the train. Have yet to drive since moving to this location last september.
last 6 weeks it has been 7 days a week.... this will continue for 4 more weeks. But prior to that it was 6 days a week. After I graduate from school (in 4 weeks) I'll be at 5 a week.
Two days a week. It is 18.5 miles one way so I just don't have time to do it every day. I need time for swimming, running and weight lifting as well. Oh, then there's that pesky wife and kid - they seem to want some of my time as well.
The sick part is, I can drive it in 20 minutes, as there is interstate the whole way. |
I have an standing appointment Wednesday mornings, so I have to take the truck in to work Tuesday nights. As a result, I only get to ride 4 days a week.
3-5. Sometimes I have to transport some big things that I can't carry on my bike, or I might feel extra tired..so I drive those days. I need to drive tomorrow for example to transport a big art panel, but after that i'm going to try to ride every day since it's bike to work month and all..
When I got my Big Dummy I lost my transporting big things excuse.
So now I have no excuse except being honest that I just don't feel like riding. :o |
1 - 3 depending on weather, meetings and even more meetings.
use to be just when i felt like it. but just today my old clunker of a car was acting like it bit the dust, so i might be using the bike as my only form of transport besides walking
well it is off on my bike to work now. |

As many days as I work. Lately I've been burning vacation days on 3-day weekends, so that's 4 days/week. Normally it's 5 days/week.

Everyday the weather is nice, so 5.
I'm 5-7 days a week of commuting over the past 15 months because I've been doing double duty (sometimes triple duty) work wise so I have something pretty much every day and ride my bike to it. Not really that much of a departure from my usual 5 days a week of riding and then riding for either transport or fun on the other days.
I average around 3 days a week at 12 miles each way. If it were shorter I'd do it more often, if longer then less. I'm actually ahead of my averages from past years so far this year.
2-3 for me. I work at home on Monday and normally squeeze a ride in that day also.
5 for me. thankfully I am not up for the 8 days some of you zealots are after. whew that would really wear me out.
1 to 2 at the moment, but I am trying to increase that. Family schedules and after work meetings sometimes put a damper on that. I am also trying to commute more for errands, especially on the weekends - this is slowly increasing.

3-4 most weeks, year-round

I was doing 1-3 days a week through the winter beginning in November until February when I injured my right IT Band. Then I picked up with the swimming; running & weight training. Now that the IT Band is healed up (thanks to stretching and foam roller) I'm adding commuting back to my routine (not just weekend joy rides). It probably won't be more than 1 or 2 days a week cuz I have work assignments on location and I still like the swims; runs and weight training. Beach season soon!!!!!
buzzman ~ you're still an animal ... :-) |
Summer means 5 days a week. Well, average of 4.5, since I get every second Friday off. But then I bike to other places instead (which usually involves biking past work, as most places I want to go are across the river, and work is right next to the only bridge that doesn't involve serious hills.)
Winter, I allow myself 2 bus days per week (only allowed to bus in the morning...I nearly always walk home). The other 2-3 days are a mix of biking or walking. This mostly works, but when we get a cold snap - we spent a little over a week hovering near -40º last winter - such plans go out the window. I've worked at this job for 3 years, and can count on one hand the number of times that I've driven. Once, because I had to get to the airport immediately after work, another 3 times were all the same week, as I was running around making arrangements to take possession of my condo and move in. |
Today I took transit because I'm going to my daughter's school after work to see some plays. Other than stuff like that, and the occasional dinner/movie date with my lovely wife, if I go to work I ride all seasons no exceptions.
I work 4 days per week (10 hours days) and I bike all 4 days rain or shine. If it's snowy, icy, or I'm too sick to ride, I take public transit.
