How many days per week do you commute?

As of the start of the month I've been commuting full time at five days a week...

Arcanum 05-11-10 11:34 AM

As many days as I work. Lately I've been burning vacation days on 3-day weekends, so that's 4 days/week. Normally it's 5 days/week.

groovestew 05-11-10 11:39 AM

With holidays and personal days off (I get one free day off per month) and appointments that preclude the use of a bike, I averaged 4 days/week last year. Since I started up again this year (took winter off), I've been well under that so far, but intend to get back up to as many days as possible.

I try to get at least 3. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon so my big run day during the week I don't ride just to save my legs some. And there's normally one other day per week where I need a car because I have to run errands on the way home

JPprivate 05-11-10 11:48 AM

I avg about 4.5 days a week.

JeremyZ 05-11-10 11:50 AM

0 to 5, depending on the weather.

This week, it may be 1, as rain is forecast the rest of the week, and it isn't worth the hassle to me to bring a change of clothes or buy rain gear.

If rain is forecast in the afternoons but it isn't raining in the morning, then I'll commute anyway.

It really sucked to drive this morning to the train station instead of biking, and paying to park was the icing on the cake.

In the winter, it will probably be 0 days per week; I'm not that hardcore.

Averaging between 4 and 5. Haven't missed a day for the last three weeks in spite of some crappy weather. Out of town meetings are what usually gets me off of the bike and into the car.

tsl 05-11-10 11:57 AM

Haven't missed a day since July 2006.

I'm currently working four-day weeks. With subbing on extra shifts, I've accumulated 80 commuting days so far this year as of today.

Do you have picture of your bike?

caloso 05-11-10 12:56 PM

5 days most weeks. Although lately (like today) I've had kid-shuttling duties a couple of days a month due to my wife's early meetings.

EKW in DC 05-11-10 01:00 PM

Five days a week unless the bike is broken or I'm on vacation. (N in the famous N+1 for me is still 1, so... fortunately, no serious mechanical issues since January - knock on wood)

I did miss about two weeks this winter after the record snowstorms here in DC left all possible routes an icy, rutted hellhole. I may get some studded tires next winter just in case. I figure having studs will either guarantee that the weather will be good all winter (kinda like putting on fenders for the first time then waiting for the first rainy day) or will allow me to deal with any adverse winter weather.

I commute 8 days a week. (now go figure)

I try to do 5 days a week if I can, but if it is raining, I drive simply because I do not need to have my hair all soaking wet when I get to work.

wunderkind 05-11-10 01:03 PM

Averaging 2 times a week. I have friday off. The other two days I mix it up with taking the subway or driving in. To me by mixing up the mode of transportation, I don't get bored and I get to appreciate my bikes and cars.

TrekFix 05-11-10 01:08 PM

3 days a week...hoping to do 5 soon.

chipcom 05-11-10 01:11 PM

I draw the line at 5 days a week. Any more would mean that I am working more than 5 days a week, which is against my religion.

chevy42083 05-11-10 01:18 PM

3-4.

pathdoc 05-11-10 01:21 PM

Usually Mon-Fri every week.

CACycling 05-11-10 01:21 PM

I work 4 day weeks and ride every day unless I need my car for an appointment/meeting or it's raining.

corkscrew 05-11-10 01:24 PM

Between 0-5. :) I've been averaging 3 times a week since January though. Was 4 last week, 4 the week before that, and 5 the week before that.

Its 3 for this week too. Rode yesterday, today I'm hungover and there is a wind advisory in effect. Tomorrow I ride, Thursday I have a dentist appointment. Then Friday I ride again.

Appointment days make me drive, I have to leave work early to get across town in time, and don't want to lose more time to pedal there.

AdamDZ 05-11-10 01:30 PM

Every day, weekday that is. I only take the subway if I'm sick or the weather is REALLY bad. I never drive to work.

somerslam 05-11-10 01:36 PM

At least three days. Any more than this is dependent on meetings off site and/or evening duties.

norskagent 05-11-10 01:42 PM

2 times per week
I go climbing on wed. and most weekends, plus try to get in a ride or two on the weekend.
So mon. and fri. I drive in and rest!

ItsJustMe 05-11-10 01:52 PM

5 days a week. I drive once in a while. At one time I went about 18 months without driving my car to work, though I used it on the weekend sometimes. These days I'm a bit more laid back. I rode today though it was 37*F and thunderstorms all day, weather doesn't bother me much, but if I have lots of errands or need to carry something heavy, I'll drive.

mikeybikes 05-11-10 02:09 PM

Eight.

tjspiel 05-11-10 02:14 PM

I plan on driving about once a week to take care of any errands that require traveling a longer distance or hauling a lot of stuff. Sometimes I end up riding every day and some weeks I'll have to drive twice for whatever reason.

My average is probably a bit over 4.
