Actually, this area is apartment-rich. I've encountered this guy and a ninja (which is why being early isn't such a hot idea either) in the same area. I hate to think the worst of people but they both strike me as people who are riding bikes because they've lost their licenses to DUI or whatever. The mere thought that I'm doing this because I want to is probably foreign to them, and I bet they can't imagine I actually enjoy it.
lol

yes people that don't ride to your specifcations must be DUI folks. pray do tell, why do jaywalkers jaywalk then, i mean they must all be some sort of druggies i presume in your world?

good lord you self-righteous folks are so ridiculous, you are as bad or worse as any rule-breaker that breaks rules for the sake of breaking rules - as in ridiculous.

What's the matter, did I strike a nerve, idiotekniQues?

Nope an arrow in the bullseye. Your post and the high fiving responders are more of the same of a string of recent posts in BF that is accurately described by idiotekniQues: self-righteous folks being ridiculous in their smug posts dissing cyclists who don't fit their own profile.

Doohickie, you're male, right? Blow the guy a big affectionate kiss. He's already shown what a (over)sensitive guy he is- if a virtual smooch doesn't send him careening to the other side of the road, nothing will.

Or you'll make a new friend! Win either way!
If that does not work, get a single rose and hand it to him as you pass.

I'm sorry, but salmon riders are one of the most dangerous conditions I've encountered while riding. After the second encounter, I do have some clue how this guy behaves, but why even create the confusion? Follow the traffic LAWs, especially when there is other traffic around. We have good reasons for saying what we say. What are the "good reasons" for riding in an unpredictable, unlawful manner? I could care less about style. Ride whatever kind of bike you want. I could care less if you wear a helmet or not. But really, in a live traffic situations, DON'T F***ING PLAY CHICKEN WITH ME.

I'm not dissing the cycist as a person, but riding like that really grinds my gears.

I will admit that filling in the backstory about why the guy is riding was pure speculation and didn't add to the discussion, but the fact remains that riding on the roads the way this guy was, is dangerous and illegal.

Yeah, it's self-righteous, smug, and ridiculous to call someone an idiot for riding the wrong way--as I see people doing nearly every day on my commute. Gosh, what was I thinking? Cyclists should be allowed to be erratic and unpredictable, forcing me to take a lane of traffic or swerve into the door zone to avoid them. If it's convenient for them to ride a block the wrong way and inconvenience/endanger others, who am I to judge?
