Tough day today

Ever have one of those days where the bike commute both to and from work was just a chore? Man I was seemingly chugging both ways today and I can't put my finger on it. Just seemed tired and out of it all day. Hopefully I'll rest well tonight and be better in the morning. Perhaps I just need a day off the bike. think I'll bag the ride for Thursday and maybe Friday.

Yup, yessir. Felt like I was going to die from a heat stroke a few days ago. Got off work early, so I left in the middle of the day. Hot. 105 degree heat, hot. Work pants did not help the feeling, either.

But the ride into work was pleasant.

It's all mental. Pedal through it, brodozer.

Every once in a while I get a day where it feels like I am riding in sand. I just back off on those days and don't push as hard as I normally would. If I have two of those days in a row, I get off the bike for a day or two.

That would be me and frickin 10-15 mph headwinds for half my ride home every day about a week before summer hit. So sick of it.

Today was a piece of cake. I felt great on my ride in and home. Weird for sure. Gonna drive thursday and friday.

Some days are like that: the ride becomes a total chore rather than your happy time. When it happens to me, I try to get to bed an hour or
so earlier. The extra bit of sleep helps a lot.

Glad to read today's ride was better!

I only have those kind of days when I have a strong headwind. It's not so bad going to work since it's mostly down hill, but going home uphill into a very strong headwind from some of our winter evening storms with a driving rain added in, a couple of times I came close to throwing in the towel, with thoughts of my hands wrapped around a warm and dry steering wheel.

I usually know what kind of riding day I'll have by a block away from my house. My legs will feel like lead. I just take it a little easier. Riding speed doesn't much matter anyway, its the lights that you catch or don't catch that determine how long it will take. I prove this to myself every day as I usually am the fast rider, but the slow riders are right behind me waiting for the green.

You might need a day off for some recovery time, or you could be coming down with something. I often notice that I come down with a cold soon after having a really tough ride for inexplicable reasons.

Didn't ride today but it was a beautiful morning and afternoon, I could kick myself for not riding but it was nice to be able to get home a little earlier and stop at the home supply center for some stuff for the bathroom redecoration. I'm gonna ride tomorrow though.
