Can't commute for a couple weeks :(

I've been commuting every day since I got my bike about a month ago, and my car hasn't gotten any love from me (maybe 10 miles per week) so I thought I'd take Sunday to give her a complete detail. Well she expressed her displeasure about my neglect to me...
I accidentally kicked a tire which caused my big toenail to separate from my toe and started gushing blood everywhere. I can't put my foot into my shoes anymore without pain so I can't use my clipless and I dont feel like commuting in sandals....
This sucks... now I can't commute and my buddies want to go scuba diving this weekend too which I think I am going to have to bail on....

Just suck it up, put on the sandals and bike to work. Just don't go near your car. It might start biting you.

I don't know how I'd feel on drops with full spandex and sandals.... I'm trying to imagine it and just thinking about how ridiculous it looks.
Well either way, I'm hoping it closes up over the weekend so I can start commuting to work next week. It's been rough driving to work every day this week...

That wouldn't be too bad I suppose, but I'd feel gross all day because we know cotton sucks when it comes to working out... and I sweat like a pig. I spent half my life in spandex so I can spend days in the stuff and be fine (competitive swimming and rowing and now cycling), working out in cotton is like.... its just blasphemy! (I use my commute as my daily work out.)
Wound closed up yesterday, will let it rest over the weekend and I will be back on the road Monday, car goes back into the garage.

Bikes: Had a Surly Cross Check - was totaled in recent accident. Sadly now just a Fuji Crosstown as a backup bike.

Are you saying I look weird commuting with my spandex and crocs? Yes - I wear crocs on the bike. Should I have admitted that? O well . . .

Relieve the pressure... Put shoes on... ride.
This happened to me at work one day when a steel foot pedal landed on my big toe. I was in pain for 2 days before I relieved the pressure. The whole toenail fell off and its not quite right almost 3 years later. But anyway, I had to wear closed toe shoes at work so that made my decision for me.
Hope it feels better soon!
