This is in lachine, on the montreal Island (quebec/canada). When I see pictures, I realize I forget how nice it is... It's strange, cuz about 2-3 miles away from that lies heavy roads and cars everywhere. I look forward to getting there every night when I get out of work.

Once I get a digo camera I'll get more pics of the area around there. There is a pier close to it that has the way barred for cars. So there's this nice place in between a bay and the st-lawrence river where for about 2 miles you have no cars.

Some of the wildlife I see daily on my trip over Moose Hill, in Sharon, Massachusetts. Taken 7:00 am last week.

Here are four Stockholm photos I took of my weekend commute (yeah, I just couldn't stop myself from biking downtown again, and tonight I'll do it again, to a party).

For descriptions, see my Stockholm page on Virtual Tourist (I hope this works).

BenyBen 09-25-04 09:55 AM

that looks like a nice place to bike as well. looks less urban that most parts of montreal. And that's good. :)

Here are two photos - also from today's trip - of extreme contrasts. First, the lush bikepath under the pine trees where I live. Then the Sergel square smack in the middle of Stockholm city - my goal today.

BenyBen 09-25-04 10:01 AM

I'll trade you my ride next to the river for the ride under the pine trees anytime. :)

Okay, I've had to dodge glass, cars, rollerbladers, joggers, slow bikers, squirrels, cats, and various other animals. But this was a new one.

 wtf!? is that a real fish? if so, what is it doing there???

Anyway, below is my pic of the day. It was great biking home this afternoon/evening. around 13 degrees celsius and sunny. It was so nice a had to make an extra lap around 'Södermalm' before heading home - Sweet!

(taken using the built-in camera on the SonyEricsson z1010)

Yes, it's a real fish. It was right next to a lake, but I have no idea what kind of fish it was. I showed it to my fish enthusiast housemate, but he had never seen such a fish and couldn't identify it.

how did it taste?

I took this photo today on my way to the Stockholm International Fairs. I really like the suburban feeling of it.

I loved ijens' Stockholm pic - it was already dark when I got home but I probably passed the same spot!

timmhaan 09-28-04 02:59 PM

i'm really digging the stockholm pics. keep them coming. if i could ever get out of work before dark, i'll post some pics of my fair city.

No, I'm a vegetarian. I don't quite remember exactly what chicken or fish tastes like.

Sure! And you have to get out before dark - I would love to see pics from nyc!

Ive ridden on the Springwater Corridor many times, we are very lucky tohave it here in portland. There are actualy a couple very nice bike paths like these here.they say protland is one of the most bicycle friendly citys in the country, and it just might be true.

Two snapshots from this morning's ride.

First, the urbanity of Gullmarsplan, sort of where the city begins. Note the bikelane on the right.

Second, the City Hall with a huge crane in front of it. It is a cloudy day, but I just love riding in the autumn.

that's a longnose gar. i believe they are native to wisconsin, but they are certainly not something one sees every day on the road!

This morning I didn't have to bike in (I don't have a class until late this afternoon). Anyways, these two shots are from my Recovery Ride this morning and show some of the commuting areas.

The darker skyline shot is what is usually behind me when I do commute in. Sometimes, usually on holidays, the CN Tower is light up with icons for that festivity.

The other shot is one of the major cycling paths in the city. I tend to avoid these unless I'm doing a ride like I did this morning. I find they tend to get congested not just with cyclists but also runners, roller bladers, etc. The pace also tends to be slower. But the views are nice and sometimes you have to be careful of "killer bunny rabbits" as they like to dart out in front of fast moving wheels, IMO.

A co-worker just said to me, "Good thing you stopped before you hit it. Otherwise you would've been in a gar crash."

Really, it was funny.

I love riding in the night. Here's from today's ride home. First pic features the royal castle (and the bike lane of course...). The rest are taken at Slussen.

And one of the bright lights of the second pic is actually the full moon.

All pictures taken by hand - no tripod! So due to the long exposure, some of the cyclists on the pics were blurred out...

Here are a couple of pics from my commute route today. I was not actually on my way to/from work, but it is the same route.

Funny, that's pretty much how I pictured Montana! :)
