I have an urban commute, with only the Pacific Ocean for any kind of scenery -- and even that's obscured right now by temporary structures for a stupid car race, so this canal at Broadbeach Waters is about the best I can come up with right now.

It was really foggy this morning, and I got some great pictures in that. At a certain point (the 3rd pic)the fog just ended and it was a beautiful sunny day.

My friday morning commute was quite foggy as well. And really cold! Around 6-7 celcius. As I dont own a thermometer i put on my usual shorts and windjacket... big mistake! Came to work in the shap of a frozen popsicle, my ears almost fell off. Thank god for hot showers and big coffee mugs!! It cleared up in the afternoon though and i had a really nice ride home!

In Suburbia ... On my way home today, just as it had got dark.

1. 6:47 pm along the big road Nynasvagen.

2. 6:52 pm under (!) the subway.

3. 6:56 pm through the very small forest close to where I live. Note the leaves on the ground - I love biking in autumn!

Some you guys have a beautiful path to work, dang. Mine's mostly city streets...

This morning was cold - at least for me. But I'm sure come February, I won't be able to wait for it to warm up to this temp. Taken at 6:40am or so. If you notice the little window just under the temp sign, there's a guy getting a haircut, So I attached an image of that too.

I almost want to move outside of town so I can get a longer, more beautiful ride to campus.

You guys make me sick, this is extremely unfair and cruel.

Will someone please post industrial wastelands and blighted urban hell-scapes?

You mean the Slippery Elm Trail? When I was up in Toledo in Sept to visit my uncle, I did a little research and found the Slip elm trail. Did the whole thing(not to hard). Next day I did the Wabash up in Maumee/ Whitehouse area. Then I tried the trail that goes along Maumee River in through the Parks along the river. Side Cut Trail if I remember correctly. All of them were prettier than anything we have down here in the land of skeeters and hurricanes.

Well, I'll see what I can do ;) But really most of my ride goes through the growing fingernails of urban sprawl...

I regularly do the whole Slippery Elm, and the hardest part is going towards North Baltimore, usually into the teeth of a nasty prarie(sp?) headwind. I really want to try sidecut with the MTB, along the Maumee. I was in Grand Rapids once and the area was stunningly beautiful.

This one's for you, H23! From this morning's ride. I see now that especially the second pic looks more picturesque than intended, but this is as urban as it gets!

This morning was beautiful! 50F breezy! See, there are actually cars out here! :p

No wonder there are so many avid commuters here. What beautiful routes! Breweries in the mist? Sounds like a winner to me.

Wish I could put some photos of my own blighted hellscape for you folks to ponder.

Kodama : Truly eery feeling to those pictures. I imagine it felt great to bike into this.

My urban ride home today. Just because it's so easy to see at what time the photos were shot, these were 6.04, 6.15 and 6.21 pm respectively. :)

Your city looks almost deserted. Is that typical?

Not really. I mean, not as deserted as on these 2 last pics - I shot them intentionally in a sort of dead area built for heavy car traffic.

But if you judge from all my photos, I guess Stockholm actually is quite deserted compared to American big cities. My aunt's boyfriend is from Washington, and he thinks Stockholm is like a small village...

bpave777 10-06-04 02:26 PM

I love your Stockholm photos Swekarl. Thanks for those. It makes me homesick for Norway.

I took some pics of my morning commute here in SF. I'll put them up when I get home tonight. I don't have my card reader at work.
