Here's some from about a month and a half ago in Minneapolis. It's not my normal commute, it's when I take the long way sometimes. Shows how spoiled we are out here...

I like the contrast between the freeway entrance and the bike path here :

Wow, I'm amazed at the beautiful commuting routes in this thread. I'm also very jealous, as most of my route is through urban/industrial areas. I tried hard to find anything worth photographing and this is the best I could find. That maple did look a lot more vibrant than the photo portrays.

New commuter!

I just started riding to school a couple days out of the week. It's about 15 miles and it's mostly backroads. It's getting kinda cold out though so I might have to check out winter cycling section to help me get through it. For now, here are some pics of my commute. Please don't hate me.

My route takes me from Southwick, MA to Holyoke, MA.

This first one is kinda cheating because I had to take a short trail to get to it. It's still on my route though so I left it in.

:edit: Taken with Canon Powershot A80. It isn't too practical for my regular rides, but when I have my backpack for commuting, there's a nice little pocket to stuff it in.

Wow, now I really hate were I live!

Mirona, you are hereby banned from this forum for biking in such beautifull spring landscapes! :) :)

Seriously though, this is very nice!

Spring? I wish! Those pics were taken last week. Sadly, all the beautiful leaves are now on the ground and I have to spend the weekend raking them up.

If I end up commuting this winter, I'll see if I can get some good snowscape shots.

wow, looks like there's lots of traffic on your route. Is it faster for you to bike?

OMG! mirona you're killin' me! where are the cars/buses/taxi's/streetcar tracks/etc??

i'm seriously glad you don't have that. i'll live vicariously through ya'lls commutes that don't have those elements.

What is this "taxi" you speak of? I'll try to cough up some more pictures. Anybody want to see the pictures from when I rode along the Grand Canyon?

BenyBen 11-05-04 02:47 PM

please do! :)

mirona, very nice!

I just love New England this time of year! I can almost smell the wood stoves through the photos! :D

Nice idea for a thread. I'll make sure I participate. There should be some interesting pics to share this Winter.

Off the subject, my brother and his wife visited Sweden recently as part of their Volvo purchase. Part of the deal included a rental car during their two week stay. They parked their rental car during their stay in Stockholm. My brother says driving in Stockholm was too crazy! It sounds like bike might be the best way to travel Stockholm.

I wish my commute was even remotely interesting... I do occasionally take pictures of things when I'm just out randomly riding around.. but they're not on my "daily commute" since my daily commute is just 2.5 miles each way and pretty lame. My pics I take are uploaded to http://cryogenic.doesntexist.org/gal...bnails-18.html if anyone cares to take a look. :) Comments on pictures are welcomed.

Quick look - nice site! :)

Okay, you asked for it.

This was my first view of the grand canyon. Of course, I'm not actually looking into it like everyone else, but over to the side.

This is the watchtower. It is a recreated tower originally put there by the natives.

Elk! I think. I tried getting a little closer, but one of them actually started to get up so I decided against it.

Here are some panoramic views of the canyon. They're a little big so I'll link to them.

Enjoy!

I just added a new one to my gallery.. snapped this pic on the way to work taking a side road instead of going straight down the main road. It actually ends up a little bit faster, I think. Some of the side neighborhoods are actually kinda nice as you'll see here.

Hey that's where I threw my Huffy in the river....

(Have to say, I really wish I had more zoom on the camera)

the ting on the left looks like a human in thinking position. and the figure on the right (with a bird?) looks like starwars 1&2 drone..

This is a loop I occasionally take. I head west from my house towards the Sacramento River. First, on Riverside Boulevard, which is a popular route for commuters going from the Pocket to Downtown:

Then, on to the bike path along the Sacramento:

The bike path parallels a railroad line, the old Sacramento Southern Line, which used to haul fruit up the valley. Now they use it for a tourist attraction. The rest of this line would probably make a good candidate for Rails To Trails.
