Commuting in Dublin... in winter

Hey all,

I'm going to be studying abroad in Dublin next January and was wondering what the weather is like, and what type of bike you would recommend. I usually ride fixed (here in Chicago) and was hoping to do so in Dublin but I don't know how flat Dublin is and whether that would be practical. I'm going to be commuting from the suburbs to the Dail (sorry I don't know how to do the accent), I'm not quite sure where I'm living yet, but so long as it's under 15 miles I would like to bike. Also, if you have any suggestions for a good shop in the Dublin area that would be great as well. I need a new bike and thought it would be fun to get it there!

Thanks for the help!
