I wear the hi vis reflective vest day and night summer and winter. I don't get why earlier posters talk about so many garments depending on season. The vest fits over winter clothing. No need to spend more on seasonal hi viz wear.

In summer I often wear just the vest - no shirt

Hah. Funny that I saw this topic. Just read this post about people wearing their reflective gear during the day. Reversible fluorescents anyone?

Actually, that post is pretty off base, as they seem to think the 'highlighter yellow' is for nighttime visibility, which is just wrong.

Because wearing one less layer is easier, and combining extra visibility with whatever you're wearing is a good idea.

Really? Did you read to the end of it? Seems like they agree that it might be better to wear high viz all the time, don't you think?

I ask myself, "If I were driving, would I have my headlights on?". If the answer is yes, then I wear my hi-vis/reflective vest. For daytime riding, that includes times of fog, rain, snow, etc... I don't bother with the vest when it's sunny.
